Paul Ligaya 09/23/13 Period: 5 Ms. Brandon In Chapter two of The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, Old Spencer was uses a metaphor to compare life to a game. “Life is a game that one plays according to the rules.” I agree with this statement because the typical high school student can relate to overcoming challenges, having consequences for their actions, and using teamwork to be successful. Likewise, Holden faced challenges and paid consequences in the novel. Looking back on my life, I have face challenges and paid consequences for my action. For example, the challenge that I had was I missed a lot of school days because I was often sick and sometimes I skipped classes, so when I backed to school I had to go to my every classes and make up all my missed work to catch up to my classes. Even though I did all my missing work sometimes it came up short to pass my course. When the work that I need to do is a test or exam it gives me a hard time to answer every question because of I did not come to my classes to understand the lessons that I was supposed to be learning. The consequences that I paid for my actions was I earned low grades for my classes because of not going to school everyday…show more content…

People have to follow the rules because it help them not regret to their actions they’ve done in life.
