She isn’t alive during the time the book takes place, but you can see that the author, Camus, describes the relationships she had with the other characters throughout the book. The author leaves readers under the impression that Madame Meursault had a good relationship with Meursault, Mr. Perez and even the other people at the retirement home she was put in by Meursault 3 years before her death. Camus gives the readers the impression that Meursault was on rather good terms with his mother prior to her death. It wasn’t a perfect relationship that they shared, but Camus explained what Meursault had learned through his mother.

Growing up in Germany my parents divorced when I was just a pre-teen. I switched schools and my mother worked two jobs, supporting our new family of three. She eventually met my step-father and remarried. They had another child and I get along wonderfully with my 13 year younger step-sister, which is not the case with my two year younger sibling. Stress, up-rooting from our hometown, not having a father in my life, all these things I am just starting to realize, affected me in many more ways than I thought.
