Why You Really Eat at Carl Jr. In 2012, the fast food company Carl Jr. made a commercial to promote their Memphis BBQ burger, which is a cheeseburger with pulled pork on top. The purpose of this commercial is to promote and sell their new product and bring attention to their Memphis BBQ burger. This commercial is set at Memphis BBQ cook-off and during the commercial they have two attractive women dressed in short jean shorts and bikini tops cooking meat. One of the girls is cooking burgers and right next to her, another girl is cooking pulled pork. Trying to show competition, the commercial shows the girls pushing and throwing sauce on each other. This commercial showing audio, visuals, and text make this a multimodal advertisement. Even though the audio is only dimmed music and some talk at the end and the only text is the name of the restaurant, slogan, and burger name this multimodal commercial stands out using provocative images of the female body to market the products of Carl Jr. In regards to context, most to all of their united…show more content…

Having a lot of controversy with if their commercials should be banned or not, Carl Jr. is only giving American males what they want to see. With one of the girls cooking burgers, and the other girl cooking pulled pork, they had to make it interesting some how, so why not make them wear bathing suits, make them look wet, and make them fight. It creates a fantasy in the male viewers mind, and what’s left after the commercial is over is the thought “That was a Carl Jr. commercial”. The makers of the commercial went on the assumption that men love to look at pretty girls. However, most Carl Jr. commercials do not even make it to television because of the content.
