They provide their students with instruction and tools to help them learn and apply concepts in subjects such as math, English, science, and history. Along with the concepts and tools, the environment inside the classroom helps the students develop into responsible adults. A teacher’s work setting is more structured on a day-to-day basis but do deal with stressful situations such as large classes, heavy workloads, and taking work home (BLS “teachers”1). Nurses have the important role of assisting the doctor in treating and educating the patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury. They explain the importance of post-treatment home care such as nutrition, rehabilitation programs, and administering medication (BLS “Nurse”1).
The company prepared students who wanted to take primarily the SAT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT and LSAT. Although her job was to manage the company’s business affairs, she also began teaching math to students several nights a week. Jessica received training from the company in teaching basic testing skills, and she applied those skills toward teaching the math portion of the exams. She received positive feedback from her students as a conscious and innovative teacher. Jessica felt her teaching experience helped her as she began to prepare for the CPA exam herself.
The teacher knows how to build and implement a plan for professional growth directly aligned with his/her needs as a growing professional using feedback from teacher evaluations and observations, data on learner performance, and school- and system-wide priorities. The artifact I chose for this standard is field experience sheet followed by the Eastfield College Children Laboratory Mathematics curriculum planning guide 2010-2011. I received the field experience sheet in my EDEC 3613D: Introduction to Early Childhood Education fall semester of 2011 at Eastfield Community College. The purpose of this field experience was to promote the skills of observation, analysis and reflection the teacher candidates have. The mission was to visit Eastfield College Children Laboratory to observe, reflect to a lesson plan and the material and props
From a parent of a Head Start student to a teacher of the Head Start program I can clearly say that Head Start has made a difference in my family life. I also talk to other parents who have children in Head Start and the program help their family. Head Start is truly a wonderful program that every young child needs to attend. |Educ G 203 | |Influential Teacher Paper | |[Michelle May | |17 September 2012] | | | The Teachers that have Impacted My Life As I have gone through the school system, I have met a few teachers who have made an impact on my life. Thanks to their dedication, I have now been inspired to further my education and become a teacher myself. I obviously grew up being in the classroom taught by teachers but since my mom is a speech language pathologist I have also seen school from the teacher’s perspective. For as long as I can remember, I have loved helping her in her classroom. From coloring to lesson plans, I enjoy it all.
I attended many workshops and sessions that relate to psychology (I did a course in psychology) and speech therapy. It was interesting to see the good effect of having parents and carers involved with the different therapies. The life experiences that I have had, also equipped me with the tools necessary for this field (i.e. mental health nursing). I started off with the challenging role of running my own Nursery, which helped me to develop the ability to liaise with other services and professional and subsequently allowed me to get the training required to manage, plan, and monitor the working environment ensuring the safety and well-being of the children and staff.
It not only provides more opportunities and options but also more academic potential. It also adds value when it comes to securing certain top positions. These values are given to you for working hard and achieving the status of a successful human being. Schools teach you good morals on how to do an effort, how to work hard, how to achieve things, how to become an adult, and how to work with others and get results. “The choices you make now, the people you surround yourself with, they all have the potential to affect your life, even who you are, forever” (Xplore).
Strengths of teaching During my observation in both lessons with grade five students, I noticed that there are a number of strengths to be pointed out such as stimulating discussion in the classroom which allows the students’ to practice the maximum of their English language and hence allows you to correct their mistakes simultaneously. Students were fully engaged as they have the opportunity to use the language they have and put it in practice during the lesson. Added to this the ability to create a stress-free learning environment although the students’ have been exposed to different kind of activities and way of teaching. I think it was completely beneficial when you tried to allay the student’s fear of the given activities and offered as much assistance where needed which allows the students’ to relax and enjoy the tasks. During the lessons also materials and resources were adequately prepared and matched the students different learning styles including visuals, food menus and a song for auditory learners.
I was also identified as cooperating, I love working in an environment where I can work and collaborate with others. Another one of my competencies was leading, I like effective leading a team to greatness. In my current role I am a manager which leads into my next competencies; coping with pressure, and adapting to change. In order to lead, strategize, and cooperate with others I have to be able to cope with pressure and adapt to change. After completing the Work
The Career Plan Building Activities made me realize I have strengths in the areas of coping with pressure, delivering result, following instructions, and adapting to change. These strengths will help me to be an excellent leader and encourage employees to do their best to deliver positive results for the company. I will be able to handle any circumstance and make beneficial and effective decisions. I will have to make sure I am thinking critically when evaluating arguments. I know how to recognize fallacies and can judge the validity and credibility of the source.
