A private day nursery is regularly inspected to make sure that the health and safety of all the children is maintained. Private day nurseries support both families and children by giving children age birth-5years a set daily routine and small activities to achieve goals based on each child’s individual development progress. Families are supported by having relationships with their child’s key worker and receiving any revel vent information of their child or setting through letter or even verbal contact. Finally another setting which provides care for families and children are ‘voluntary settings’ these are organization’s which are usually provided by charities. Within the ‘voluntary settings’ there are volunteers and paid staff who provide similar services to the ‘statutory sector’.
(1:p1) An example of a statutory setting in my area is ***** which provides education for 4-7 year olds. Children start Infants school between the ages of 4-5 and will be in Reception class. Reception year is the last year in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). A voluntary sector is not compulsory and is not funded by the government, but by charities or organisations and in a lot of cases, parents have to pay for their child to attend. They can provide childcare and give the child the opportunity to learn something new.
The above is changing in September 2014 to allow more 2 years old children to be entitled Free early years education can be provided at the following places. Nurseries – these can be private or based within schools sites or classes within schools and academies. There are also day nurseries available. Nurseries are usually business oriented Nannies – operate by caring for children in your own home and can look after children of any age Pre schools and Play groups – providers of early years education for children under the age of 5. These types of provider are usually run by voluntary groups Childminders – normally providing care within the childminders own home from ages 0 – 8 years old.
Child-minder’s usually have children at primary school age. They are here to pick the children up from school and take them back to their house give them dinner and help them with homework until their parents come to collect them. This service is not free and there will be a set price for all children. -Pre-schools (play group) Pre-schools are usually organised by your local community. They are free for children aged 3-4.
Also, preschool helps children transition from being with mom and dad to spending time without them. "Kids in preschool discover that they are capable and can do things for themselves -- from small tasks like pouring their own juice and helping set snack tables to tackling bigger issues like making decisions about how to spend their free time," says Angela Capone, PhD, senior program manager at Southwest Human Development's Arizona Institute for Childhood Development, in Phoenix.” (Kanter, n.d.) Preschool helps children with self-help skills, lets them learn to follow directions.
Others believe that daycare provides a more structured environment where children can learn socialization skills and have friends to interact with outside the home. Pros of Daycare * Learning- Kids often can get a head start by going to day care, as they are introduced to subject matter including basic language, math and art skills that will come in handy as they prepare for kindergarten. * Socialization- kids can learn valuable social skills by interacting with kids in their age group including communication, sharing and a sense of independence. And since toddlers quickly become used to the classroom type setting, the transition to kindergarten later usually happens much more smoothly. * Activities- often day care providers provide fun activities including swimming, art, and even field trips to the zoo, park, fire department or museum * Let’s parent work outside the home- for some parents, a career is a key part of their mental well being or an economic necessity.
help families that are in trouble, and are also free of charge for everyone. A statutory service that is provided in my area is Tiny Turners nursery. They have full day care available for breakfast time, after school and holiday care which supports parents whenever they may need help. The nursery has a healthy menu which goes along with the “Every Child Matters” (ECM) with one of the 5 outcomes of “stay healthy”. The voluntary sector is provided by organizations such as charities.
The program serves healthy balanced foods/special diets (breakfast, lunch and a snack) and play indoors and outdoors in a healthy setting. The program also helps children with different disabilities and special needs, wheelchair accessibility is available at the center. Certain activities and materials used in classrooms are designed to meet the needs of many children with or without disabilities. The programs policy for absence due to illness is to notify the child’s teacher especially if that child is out for more than 3 consecutive days. Parents must call and report when their child will be returning back to
Like they say monkey see monkey do. We all have goals in our life. One of them should be a balance diet. Schools need healthy snacks for pre-school children. It will show them how to eat when at home.
There are different types of childcare options available for 0-5 year olds, these include: • Sure Start Children’s Centre: Working with parent’s right from the birth of their child, providing early years education for children, full day care, short-term care, health and family support, parenting advice as well as training and employment advice. • Nursery schools: Provide early learning and childcare for children between three and five years old. They are often based at Sure Start Children’s Centres or linked to a primary school. • Preschools and playgroups: Usually run by voluntary groups providing part-time play and early learning for the under-fives. Three and four year olds can get their 15 hours of weekly free early year’s education at these providers.
