E1&E2 Primary schools are a good example of a statutory setting. Statutory settings are funded entirely by the government. Primary schools are provided to educate children age 5 to 11 years. They don’t only educate, they also meet the individual needs of children. Primary schools do this by supplying breakfast clubs and after school. Breakfast clubs and lunch that primary schools provide allows children to get nutritious meals through the day. Exercise plays a huge part in encouraging children’s healthy development in primary schools. “Children need exercise in order to remain healthy. Providing opportunities for physical exercise is therefore essential for all ages” (Penny Tassoni, 2007, page 268) Furthermore a good example of a private setting is a Day Nursery. Private settings are paid by the parents/carers of the person attending. Usually Day Nurseries provide parents/carers the choice of 3 meals a day for their children; breakfast, lunch, dinner. Day Nurseries are for people with children that work early and/or finish late. Children’s ages vary from 6 weeks to 5 years old. They meet the individual needs by educating them from correct ages. Day Nurseries also meet the individual needs by having an outdoor facility for children to learn and play, encouraging exercise physical development. “Children learn to share and take turns through playing of games, etc. and to consider the needs and feelings of others” (Penny Tassoni, 2007, page 272) Finally the voluntary setting I have looked at is CHICKS. This voluntary service is a charity that relies on donations from the public, allowing them to take disadvantaged children on retreats etc. The children vary from different backgrounds- those living in poverty, children being neglected or abused; either physically mentally or sexually, children that have lost parents or even children that are full time
