BARANGAY PROFILE Barangay Malabanias History Malabanias is one of the established villages in Angeles City during the Spanish period. It originated its name from the word “anias” meaning wild grass which is widely known in the area. Others believe that the barangay attained its name from “abias” meaning rice and is said that in the recent time, palay is seemingly scattered anywhere in the area. It has also served as the village for the Aetas who are believed to be driven down from the mountains by the Spanish settlers. Years have passed; the place was developed and subdivided into sitios namely: Hensonville, Plaridel, Clarkview, Josefa, and the Malabanias proper. Its neighboring barangays are Sta. Teresita, Pampang, and Balibago. It has a total land area of 244 hectares or 2,440 square meters. At present, Malabanias is one of the fastest developing barangay in the city. This is attributed to the joint efforts of the officials to achieve the basic goal focusing on the services and the welfare of the barangay’s constituents with the prompt implementation of the territorial jurisdiction of the city. Lalic also added that barangay funds are also use for the building of barangay hall, which we have seen during the interview. And before we went out after the interview, he asked of what school we study then he said that he appreciates our concerns in ourbarangay and hopes that we’ll continue it. He also adviced that we must study hard because education is the only thing that we have which can help us for our future, he told us about his children who were successful in their studies and they are now professionals. “Financial problems must not be a hindrance for you and your family.
