While at Northwestern, Hall attended classes with a fellow student named Carroll L. Griffith who would later go on to become the founder of Griffith Laboratories. After graduation, Hall earned a graduate degree from the University of Chicago. Hall was soon hired by the Western Electric Company through a telephone interview. When he showed up for his first day, however, he was told by a personnel officer that "we don't take niggers." Recovering from this slight, he began working for the Chicago Department of Health as a chemist and was promoted in 1917 to senior chemist.

Pinkerton was born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 25, 1819 and died in Chicago, Illinois on July 1, 1884 at the age of 64. He was the son of a police sergeant that was disabled due to work related injuries. Pinkerton began to work as an apprentice barrel maker to support the family, but a short while later joined a political group (Chartist Movement) dedicated to improve work conditions for the poor. On the run, Pinkerton at the age of 28, and his new bride of only one day fled to Canada in 1842, where a shipwreck off the coast of Nova Scotia left them without any means supporting themselves. He then for a year began to work as cooper for a brewery in Chicago, though still dreaming of starting his own business.

(Allan Pinkerton.2002) Allan’s father was a handloom weaver who later worked as a jailer in Glasgow. (Hunt, 2009) When Pinkerton was 10 his father died while on duty. As Allan became older he learned a trade through apprenticeship, where he became a cooper and made barrels for a living. At the age of 23 he became active in the British Chartist Movement.
During the Civil War, violent crime increased in New York City, and a police insurance fund was established in 1864 to guarantee financial security to the families of police officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. Between 1870 and 1894, New York's police department was restructured. In 1898, the department assimilated 18 smaller police agencies and later began to use plain clothes police officers for the first time. The department experienced a period of modernization from 1900 to 1920. He got fired from a lingerie salesman job in 1970, and bought a typewriter hoping to get a job as an advertising copywriter (Chicago Public Library 1). In 1970, Warren Casey met Jim Jacobs and they began writing Grease (Chicago Public Library 1). Along with Casey’s work at the Chicago Guild, he was involved with other Chicago theaters and projects (Chicago Public Library 1). Acting was also a part of his career.

Peel established the Metropolitan Police force around 1829; even though the force was not well- known they were the first to prove a very successful crime decrease in London. In 1857 cities in the UK had to form their own police departments, using Peel’s successful ideas and nine principles. For peels heroic act there are police departments across the nation today enforcing laws, protecting, and serving citizen, and apprehend offenders. Sir Robert Peel has provided solutions to the abuse and mistreat of people, and evidence of society, his plan may not fixes all the crime problems but has contribute so much more prevention over the years especial with his nine principles.
History Walgreens began in 1901, when Charles R. Walgreen Sr. bought the neighborhood drugstore in Chicago, Illinois he had been working in. In its early years, Walgreen instituted innovation, personal attention, fair and reasonable prices, as well as fresh and pure pharmaceutical compounds. As a registered pharmacist, Walgreen would fill prescriptions himself to provide a personal level of service. Additionally, Walgreen implemented what he called the “two minute drill”. The drill consisted of Walgreen taking a telephone order, repeating the order in a fashion to allow for his assistants to prepare the order, and keeping the caller occupied with various topics while the order was delivered
It was not until many years later in 1947, AT&T’s research arm, Bell Labs, introduced the idea of cellular communications (Web Corp.). Then in 1954, researchers with communications giant, Motorola, began work developing portable communication products. In 1967, one of those researchers, Martin Cooper, invented the portable handheld police radios used by the Chicago police department (Web Corp.). In “Biography: Martin Cooper,” George Leard writes that Cooper was born in Chicago, IL on December 26, 1928, and earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
