Encouraging and establishing student self-control through a process of promoting positive student achievement and behavior is what every classroom needs. Classroom rules and procedures should be established with students the first week of school. Each student should have full understanding and be aware of what is expected of him/her. Providing a safe learning environment where students can participant is a key factor in classroom management. A student needs to feel comfortable with themselves, others, and the teacher, so there can be meaningful discussion and interactions.
Unfortunately, the FCAT does not evaluate student’s performance correctly due to students that fall under pressure. The pressure that student’s feel and encounter is also known as test anxiety. According to Channel 7 reporter Erica Rakow’s in the article “FCAT Stresses Students Out, she claims” The responsibility of passing both reading and math portion of the FCAT in 10 grade adds a stressful ambiance to students who really do not want to retake it as a junior (par.2). Rakow also points out “That responsibility includes promotions to the next grade, and future funding for their school. Some students get so worked up about the test they can’t even get through it (par.3).
Late arrivals create problems for this system. When a student comes in late, the teacher has to figure out why each student was late, and he has to decide how to record the tardy. Tardy students often delay the beginning of the lesson for everyone, and they often miss portions of it themselves. By delaying lessons, tardy students are wasting everyone else’s time. Tardy students also tend to ask questions that have already been answered.
Studies show that students who are over-age for their class was held back a grade level. Not completing assignments, late work, or just missing class led up to being held back a grade. Over-age students seem to need more help in the classroom, than the regular students. Adolescents pick many excuses to drop out of school. Many teachers do not like “catching plagiarists and bringing them to academic justice.” As she states, it is not hard to just cite the author that originally had the information you are using (Bojar). Plagiarism is becoming a big problem in the school system. Many students do not understand what needs to be cited and what does not. The school system should teach students the proper way to cite, and they should teach them that copy and pasting is not writing a paper. According Bojar to students at the community college have a hard time juggling classes along with his or her family and a job.
If this is the case the child could start to under achieve and decide to not concentrate as hard on their school work. Doing this may also cause the child to act out in their class and disrupt other children’s learning, as the teacher needs to take time out of the scheduled lesson to tell the child their behaviour is unacceptable. B) How a health factor may impact on a child’s social or emotional development: A health factor that may impact on a child’s social and emotional development could be their height and weight for example: If the child is either short for their age of over weight they may experience a form of bullying from their peers, have a lack of friends at home and at school. Life of a student is a very stressful one, as you drag yourself to school around 7:40 you desperately try to find friends that have completed a large sum of the mound of homework we were given the day before. Everyone lines themselves in the hallways trying to urgently scribble down answers. It comes to a point when you don’t even care if they are right or wrong as long as there is something there. I interview all of the students on site at CLC prior to their class time when possible and they spoke candidly about their instructors and how they felt that some of the work was too hard, while others felt they were not going to be able to meet the challenge expected of them for their education. Some students felt there is too much information being given to them at one time and not enough time for them to digest information between the college and the high school. There were students during these interviews who felt that their problems begins with time management as they try to process, gather, research, and prepare for projects and class experiences. Some students told me that they feel the college instructors expect too much from them over multiple subjects. Because some students feel they are not properly prepared or skilled in study habits for college work, they expressed that they are failing certain courses either at the high school level or with the dual credit program.
Students always worry about what is going to be on the test, and students think they will get bad grades on the test. All of this can lead students to feeling upset. If students keep crazy hours from staying up late and getting up early for classes, they will have an enormous stress. Worrying too much about their grades can cause to experience stress. In Conclusion, There are three major causes of the stress, which are transportation, financial problems, and classes.
