For example, when considering the admission of a student they should initially look into their high school transcript other than their race. They should also interview the student to see what type of initiative the student has. Affirmative action shouldn’t be completely taken away for those who truly need the help. Another way of soft affirmative action would be the programs that help those students in minority races get into college because of their hard work. Others also might encourage students to continue on the path of education.
It also states that the community college can be for people that have jobs, but who want to study for a career. I agree with Rose in the point that students in community college should have more acknowledgements to have better resources for their career field. There are some students who have struggled with high school education, but have decided to do something to study for a career. Most students don’t have enough time, or financial means to pay for university classes. These students then enroll in a community college.
4) First, Accountability is good for schools because it shows if the kids and the teachers are showing up to school, teaching, and learning. The students are accountable for having to do the test and do good on them. In order for the kids to do this they have to show up to school on time. They also have to show up to school well rested to learn. The teachers are accountable for showing up to school and teaching the kids so they can do good on the test .

Race to the Top discusses the goal of this new curriculum is to prepare students for college and success in their careers. The new rigorous standards will be implemented in every classroom and these standards will set the stage of what students are expected to know at the conclusion of each grade level. The Common Core State Curriculum will equip students with problem solving, critical thinking, and other skills that prepare them for college or careers in the 21st century. The main issues with the implementation of this change is the success rate of students in the low achieving schools and the implications on special education. The rigorous standards are continuous from school to school and are defined with essential skills students should know (MSDE,2012).
During college and universities, students have opted the subject that they would like to pursue in their career. Colleges and universities should teach students the necessary skills needed and ensure that they have recieved a strong foundation for career. For instance, learning statistics is really important if one chose to be an economist or an accountant. If this subject is not covered in depth, i am afraid that the students will not perform well in their career. College and universities should also put emphasis on applying this skills in daily workforce.

With that being said, the SAT test has been under heavy controversy recently due to new research and events. College has become a more obtainable dream for students trying to further their academic exploration and a tool used to gain admittance into the universities is the SAT test. But is the SAT test is a reliable source of measurement for the caliber of students entering the field of higher education? Does it look at the student’s individuality, school district, or available opportunities?

In order to achieve this, a person must graduate high school and college. Many people seem to think life as a high school student and a college student are very similar, but to me they have many differences. When I graduated high school, I decided that I would go to college and I became very aware of not only the differences, but the similarities as well. A couple of the things I noticed were the differences in the scheduling and rules and attitudes, responsibility on my part, and the work load.
There are thousands of teaching styles professors and teachers use. Each person is different and therefore has their own idea of what their class will respond to and learn from. In college, teachers often times focus on their strengths, whether it be lecturing or using personal experience. While high school the majority of the learning was very scripted, impersonal, and bland. Many students fell in love with subject in college that they may have disliked in high school.
Making new friends can also help to adjust to the new surroundings. A lot of students sometimes become afraid of the first year of college. This may lead to different types of academic difficulties. Some may face test anxiety and trouble concentrating. If a student gets the feeling that the work load is becoming too much, they should meet with their advisor, go to on campus tutoring or join a study group.
