Being able to see what has been being talked about in the class all week, makes learning easier for a visual learner. While attending school, you go to take in as much knowledge as possible. No one teacher teaches the same, so how do we fully comprehend what we are learning? Four different learning styles enable us to comprehend information at our best. Some people learn better by simply listening, others learn by being hands on.
There are a few goals that I hope to achieve before leaving Manchester. The first one is to know more about my content, mainly the vocabulary and speaking skills. The vocabulary review games were as much as a review for the students as they were for me. Grant it, they were learning objects in the classroom, such as a pencil sharpener and a computer screen, which aren’t stressed too much in speaking. If I want to teach a topic, I should try to learn as much as I can about it and never stop learning Spanish, this is also one of my goals.
When Mrs. Howell called on students to answer her questions, she stated their first name every time and used positive feedback after each answer. These techniques demonstrated an environment of respect and rapport. She also allowed each student to share their idea or response every time she asked for an answer or response. I noticed that Mrs. Howell ensured that communication between her and her students were clear and accurate by restating questions that were confusing to some students. She would break down questions and answers to make them more
The paraprofessional and special education teacher send examples of what the students are learning. Therefore, they can help the students with homework. In addition, notes are sent home to inform the parents about any behavior issues or accomplishments. Furthermore, they have their test read aloud to assist with comprehension and in a small group setting to avoid any
This shows integrity because it shows how I value many things and have patience to do something the right way. I am not that type of person that does something to get it done and over with, I like to learn and enjoy to work hard at something and to feel accomplished. And I also show a great deal of cooperation with others through school interaction. Every day, I speak, teach, and learn from other students and teachers that allow me to excel in my learning. For example, in speech class, I am accompanied by different classmates that I have not worked with before and gather as a group to share ideas with a common purpose.
Taking the learning style assessment test was very interesting experience. I had no idea there different types of learners. I always thought that I was more of hands on learner and visual learner. After taking the assessment, I discovered that my learning style is auditory. As I reflect back, I noticed that I do read aloud to myself and I also enjoy working in groups and often participate in class discussions.
I observed him in class because I wanted to see how he interacted with the teacher, his peers and the text that was presented. From the first observation I gleaned several things about Mateo as a student, his literacy behaviors and the educational implications created by receiving the majority of his instruction in an L2. The first thing I observed was that Mateo seems pretty reluctant to use English or speak at all
In speaking to other ELL students whose home language is different, ELL students, use English but due to the students’ limitations in their English proficiency, they expose each other to more broken English I will value the instructional power of a word wall by frequently utilizing, maintaining, and updating it.All too often, secondary educators miss important opportunities to build the literacy skills of all students. This is especially true in
Some instructional strategies that Mrs. Mills used in the classroom included reading aloud a picture book, guided reading sessions, and peer-reading. It was easy to tell that most of the students were receptive to the teacher and learning. However, I spotted one or two of the students just mimicking what other classmates where doing. Every one of the students I observed loved hands on learning, and Mrs. Mills took advantage of this every chance she could. She uses the constructivist approach to learning by using prior knowledge to enhance learning and scaffolding techniques.
Good communication is the way to resolve issues with the way students are being taught. If there was more class participation it would break down the monotony of just having a teacher read from a book or lecturing the entire time. “Knowledge emerges only through invention and reinvention,
