The Second Amendment is a law that was formulated to give the citizens of The United States of America the right to own and bear firearms. More gun control laws have been set in place as a deterrent for criminals to purchase firearms. Gun control laws are not the only way to avoid and protect criminals from purchasing firearms. Even with the gun control laws, debates, the Second Amendment and the Tiahrt Amendment, there is a lack of enforcement of these laws which has caused more violence. There also has not been a reduction in the number of criminals with guns.
What if that was one of your family member, wouldn’t you want them to be able to protect themselves? I would think so. Many people don’t think of gun violence this way but, it is very true. “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” It’s the person behind the gun that causes the death and deviation known with gun violence. So gun control is not the answer to the problem.
Amongst all the stories swirling around in the media following the Sandy Hook tragedy it may surprise one to discover that handguns, not assault weapons, are used in most of the gun murders in the United States. Despite this many in Congress are pushing to bring back the Clinton-era ban with some extra restrictions and requirements. Although I can understand how frustration and grief following such horrific events can push people to call for action, I do not think that banning certain types of semi-automatic rifles or limiting their magazine capacity will do anything to stem the tide of death. The first hurdle that politicians seeking a new assault weapon ban will have to face is defining what exactly an assault weapon is. Most of the time
If the adults cannot buy a gun legally there is always the other option, to get them from selling them illegally When responsible adults buy a gun, they most likely will not use it to murder people. They would use it so they can help themselves. A lot of people are in danger every day and most of them don’t have any protection. Guns aren’t the best way to solve a problem but if you are in need for some help and protection, then a gun can help a lot. 67% of Americans own a gun for protection from crime.
One of the major points against gun control is the violation of your second amendment rights, you have the right to keep and bear arms for personal protection. This paper will show there is no common sense in banning all firearms as a means gun control and it leaves law abiding citizens increasingly vulnerable to violent crimes. No Common Sense in Gun Control Over the past forty years, legislators have spent a lot of time, effort and revenue on legislation regarding gun control. Gun control advocates insist that increased gun control will lower the soaring crime rates of the early 70's. However, “recent research on the prevalence of defensive gun use has prompted growing concern that government efforts to regulate gun ownership and use may be counterproductive” (Ludwig, 2000, p. 363).
According to a report by statistician, William Sturdevant, “A majority of adults who legally carry concealed handguns are law-abiding citizens, who do not misuse their firearms”. Criminals get to make the choice for themselves whether or not they carry or conceal a handgun, regardless of their criminal history. Responsible citizens should all have the same advantages to protect themselves. It has been said that when someone draws a gun in self-defense, most of the time the criminal just backs off. Our right to carry concealed handguns is guaranteed by The Second Amendment of The US Constitution, it states “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The right to obtain a permit to carry a concealed handgun is permitted in all states, excluding Washington D.C. As long as The Second Amendment is in place we will continue to have the right to bear arms.
The Fallacy of Gun Control in America COM/215 The Fallacy of Gun Control in America Proposed gun control laws that ban gun ownership are a violation of every American’s Constitutional right to keep and bear arms and should be rejected. The debate concerning gun control has recently become a major point of contention in America. Any federal law that affects the nation must be made using rational and logical analysis. These analyses should be based on individual rights and perhaps even a little common sense. Although these ideals seem simple to many people, they are lost on the majority of the Democratic Party in America.
Grifin M. Price Kendra Gallos English III H 3/21/18 Gun Control Will Not Solve Anything Guns are given a bad reputation because of the terrors that can be committed by people who want to cause harm. Those who are gun control advocates wish to ban certain weapons without basis, ban certain weapon attachments, and restrict the rights of the second amendment. Gun control supporters base their opinion on statistics about gun violence that use a portion of data that is not about gun violence just to boost the value of the number. Supporters of gun control dismiss the saying “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” because they are misinformed about the number of defensive gun uses (DGU) which far outnumbers the
Most gun activists stand by the 2nd amendment but does it really make sense to do that lets just think for a second why was the 2nd amendment made? It was made so Americans can protect themselves from danger but do guns really protect us when we are using them to kill other each other and using them to commit acts of terror? The obvious answer is no but lets pause for a moment and just say that people need guns such as hunting rifles to hunt and handguns to protect themselves given certain situations, even with these exceptions there is no need for assault weaponry
Gun control laws have become such a huge controversy in the United States due to the fact that citizens believe their Second Amendment right is being taken away from them. In my eyes, I believe that extended gun control measures should be taken to ensure that access to assault weapons should be limited to certain people. I believe one deserve a well rounded background check to see if any mental health issues are visible. I also believe you have the right to own a weapon and the government is not trying to take away your hunting rifles, personal permitted handguns, etc. They government is emphasizing more on the fully automatic weapons, explosives, armor and other things that only the military should have access to.
