Implementing Change Paper Lucionda Berry HCS/475 January 22, 2013 Mrs. Nicole Coarsey Introduction When managing an organization within a healthcare setting, it is very important that management develop a skill to adapt to change, not only gaining knowledge on the changes that are occurring, but being able to communicate those changes to their employees and staff. In this paper I will explain the manager’s role and responsibility in implementing change in the department, and how managers should successfully handle staff resistance to change. I will then attempt to explain the steps of the change process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Hopefully after reading this paper the reader will have a better understanding on how to implement change effectively amongst staff. While conducting the meeting, management should communicate clearly and effectively to ensure that all staff is on one accord. Communication is the process of understanding and having meaning (Du Pre, 2005) and it is also the process of relaying information between people by the use of words, letters, symbols, or body language (Sallee & Forrest, 2005).When implementing change within an organization it is also the manager’s responsibility to know what their employees’ strengths and weaknesses are, to find out what will be required to get specific employees to perform, and to understand how to capitalize on the ways those employees learn as an alternative method of encouraging and motivating them (Buckingham,
