A Broken Promise Sometimes, it can be very difficult to keep a promise. One of the most difficult promises I have had to keep was made not too long ago to my football team. I have always been known for keeping my word on commitments I make and joining the football team was no exception. I figured that this would be just like any other commitment I made in my past, but I was wrong. This journey not only strained me and brought me to my brink, but it taught me that some things in this world are not capable of being changed. July 1, 2010 was the day that my life changed forever. The summer I entered the seventh grade, I attended what would become the beginning of my new obsession, my first football camp. For six weeks, I would form a bond with my future family on the Hialeah Gardens Senior High Gladiator football team. Blood, sweat, and tears were shed in an effort to transform our underdog team into what we hoped would become Florida State Football Champions. I was ecstatic to have the honor of participating in such an effort before I even joined the team officially. On the last day of camp, I was asked for a verbal agreement to stay a part of the team for the upcoming six years, an agreement that I responded with a straight forward “Yes!” Finally, after two years of awaiting for my chance to put on the legendary Gladiator helmet and armor, I was armed for the war against the rivaling teams on the junior varsity roster. My promise was kept and now I would battle alongside my brothers who trained through the rain and the heat. I fought a long and hard competition and eventually succumbed to the first major obstacle in my adventure to success. After dealing a devastating blow to an opposing team’s player, I dealt with the recoil of my hit. For five plays, I endured an increasing ringing noise in my ears, a pounding headache that threatened to make my head explode,
