A physician from Costa Mesa, California said, “Most people assume that their bodies will warn them before they become dehydrated, usually by intense thirst. Unfortunately, that signal can be masked. Often when a person loses fluid quickly, the normal thirst mechanism is overwhelmed, and dehydration or heat stroke can set it with little or no warning” (Dehydration: Curse of) Like hyponatremia, dehydration is also a common problem among runners. However, drinking less is safer than drinking more. “Most emergency physicians assume a runner or a cyclist who gets a little goofy is dehydrayted and needs more water or [sugar}, but in the process you can treat them to death,” says Carl Foster, PhD.
There has always been people who try to argue that Gatorade is not any better for athletes than water, well if thats true, then why do most athletes prefer Gatorade to any other sports drink, including water? Could it be that it tastes better, or that countless studies have shown that it scientifically can refuel the average athlete better? The truth is there is no single reason that Gatorade is a better than water, there are many. Gatorade is better than water because it tastes better, it refuels the body better and faster, it is on all ways superior in comparison to water, and Gatorade's appearance is also more appealing than water's. The reason why most athletes choose Gatorade over water is because the ingredients in Gatorade refuel the body quicker than water.
1. Elizabeth Royte’s question “For now, what should we be drinking?” is answered throughout the excerpt by saying that tap water is no better than bottled water. Although bottled water labels say their water comes from the best of the best types of filter, its often a lie and comes from the same type of water that comes through your tap water, according to Royte. She supports her conclusion throughout the whole excerpt with specific example and evidence. Although she has a water filter in her tap water, she believes it is almost the same without one.
Second, bottled water is harmful for human being and the environment according to the Environment Working Group. Bottled water is costly and wasteful, but this does not stop people around the world and especially those living in developed country to be addicted of bottled water. The typical cost for tap water is $0.0015/gallon while a gallon of bottled water at prices ranging from $0.89 to $8.26 per gallon. The big difference in cost does not encourage me to drink bottle water because Water is a gift from our nature I do not think that the bottled water industry has the right to sell water in a such a high price since the only thing that they do on it is to filter it and put it in plastic bottle. According to EWG, people believe that the taste that taps water has meant that tap water is bad that is why the run to bottles water despite his cost.
