Felix Thomas Mr. Levy 5th Period November 18, 2011 Music and Music Artist of the 1950s Music in the 1950s helped shaped the way music is today . Music was seen as a sort of art that expressed ideas and different emotions through various forms. This was very evident during the 1950s because, the influence of music was not only seen in the music industry but it even seen in peoples lives. During the 1950s, racial problems were not only a problem for society but it effected the way music was portrayed and written. Different styles of music were heard by different races and different age groups. The music in the fifties had its ups and downs but through it all, music had a huge impact. Without a doubt, the genres, the artists, and the songs had a big influence on the way music was viewed during the 1950s. Music was a very vast form of art that included many types of genres. The three most known genres of music during the fifties were Rock N’ Roll, Country and Western, and Rhythm and Blues. All of these styles incorporated different lyrics that were meant for different crowds. These three styles of music influenced the way society lived each day such as the way the dressed, acted, and talked. However, one similar thing between all three types of music was that each type spoke to their audience, and it incorporated everyday words in their lyrics. Rock N’ Roll was probably the music style to make the biggest impact on both the music industry and society. The impact of Rock N’ Roll was so great that it was able to bring opposites together. It was able to bring both blacks and whites together through different Rock N’ Roll artists being able to break racial barriers. It brought both urban and rural together, and it brought both north and south together. This was accomplished through people moving around and bringing their culture of Rock N’ Roll with them. Rock
