I began to see how negative scripts could cause problems. Before I journal about myself and my English is poor. I feel awkward but I will feel strong with my writing. I would like to continue writing an English diary, about the things I have thought about during the day, and if someone can give me suggestions about my English writing. It will be a good practice for me to brush up my English.
Final Position Paper: Reading/Literacy Since the beginning of class my definitions of reading and literacy has changed. Literacy is listening, speaking, thinking, reading, writing, and soon technology. Reading is made up of five areas: phonemics, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension however the purpose of reading is to understand. The three major ideas from class that support my new definitions are from the class topics of reading and writing, comprehension and reading and the brain. During the class on reading and the brain we discussed what reading was and the five areas of reading.
Although brainstorming is a critical process, I do it in my brain due to the fact that in my brain, I know what to write about right after I get my assignment. Like my instructor, I think about it for a few days, maybe three or four. Then, I work in the best of my ability. While my brainstorming is going on in my head, simultaneously my brain outlines my text for me. I get the rough conception in my head and progress it into actually writing.
Growing up as a child, I would always depend on writing as a getaway from society. I would write whatever came to my imagination and bought it to life with just a paper and an ink pen. Writing was a tool that was very beneficial to me during my teenage years and even now in my adult years. I have had some experiences that were both good and bad when it came to writing, but nonetheless, writing became my forte in my English courses. The feeling that I have when writing is a very joyous one because it is my nonverbal communication to express my emotions and thoughts without the critism of the outside world.
Gerson Guevarra Professor Juarez English A: MW 9:30 am November 29, 2010 My Journey to Reading and Writing (Re-write) Reading is a natural habit that most people will learn in life. Everybody learns differently however. Some may be faster than others, and some may be slower. The reading process as a whole is a very complex area, and is constantly changing. For me, reading and comprehending has been a challenge throughout my life from learning to speak English as a language, finding the interest for reading, and being able to understand the things I read.
On-campus classes make it easier to communicate one-on-one with your teacher. If you need any help or just have a question, you can speak to your teacher during class and/or speak to a student in your class. Any assignments that you get can be completed in class, on-campus, or at home, then turned in to the teacher. The books needed for your classes are owned by you, so you can make notes and highlight the text in the book if you need. It is harder to procrastinate while taking classes on-campus because you begin the homework in class (most times) and have the teacher to notice if you did or did not submit your assignments.
If you are reading for a class assignment retention is a necessity. It will help you in your class seminars, discussion boards, projects and exams. III. Formulate a plan A. If you only need basic understanding of what you have read you can: 1) Skim the reading material 2) Highlight the points you think are important 3) Take notes B.
I often like to look ahead and read the table of contents to see about the book. I always read the back cover and catch the theme. b. 2 Reading Assignments: reading a text book. I usually only pay attention to key points we discuss in class that are in the text.
It helps me visualize what I am reading and helps me connect to whatever I am reading. I t also allows me to involve my feelings, curiosity and a way to escape from life’s distractions. When I am required to read, the first thing I would do is find a quiet place where there is no distractions. Reading is fundamental and it involves focusing on basic literary elements, artistic skills, aesthetic features, ideas, observations, contexts, and dilemmas that will be discovered as I read more. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a story, written by James Thurber.
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES In this paper, I am going to write about my strengths and weaknesses as a writer. Writing is a process of transforming ideas, thoughts, and even goals to paper and for the reader to be able to comprehend what is written. The actual transformation of my thoughts is and always has been one of my biggest obstacles. However, I have always done well in past English classes that require essay writing. Since my strengths are harder for me to write about I will start with my weaknesses.
