Azinaide Vera Cruz ENG110 Steve Bookman September 4th, 2010 What are your experiences in writing classes? For the entirety of my High School life, I had the ability to successfully write an essay. On the whole, I felt that my writing skills was successful due to the fact that, I always wrote about exciting topics and the High School writing techniques were not so demanding. However, when I started college my writing expertise and experiences were not so pleasant. Fear and frustration are the first feelings that pop in my heart when I have to write a paper.
I do not have any misconceptions about writing I'm just very out of practice and I'm sure with time it will become a lot easier and feel more natural. I need to focus on staying on topic, grammar and punctuation. I tend to go off topic once I get another idea something similar but not part of the idea I was going for in my paper. In order to improve this weakness is by keeping my ideas organize will help me stay on topic After reading chapter one it gave me a new motivation to learn about writing. I have always just gave myself the excuse that I am not a good writer and that’s how I am going to live.
Portrait of a Writer Before taking [ENC1101], I had never considered looking at myself as a writer or comparing my writing style and habits to those of other writers, both good and bad. Looking at myself as a writer and the processes I go through when writing might help me identify my weaknesses and adopt new habits more conducive to good writing. Not only has this class changed what I define to be a good writer, but this past unit has also taught me many new writing strategies that could help me become that good writer. Prior to taking this class, my definition of a good writer was rather basic. I considered a good writer to be anyone who could effectively convey a message to a reader.
She had to go through the struggle of a home, school, and social life. This is why I loved this book. Sometimes I want to be invisible, but others won’t let me. Melinda goes through this every day. I kept reading and reading because I wanted her to have the happy ending she deserved.
Early Reading Memories I do not have an excessive amount of reading memories to jot down for this assignment, however I can think of a few. When I look back in time and attempt to remember reading as a child, there is one thing that pops into my head, "Dr. Suess". The rhythm and pace that follows his books made me giggle as child and want to read more. I will begin this essay as little munchkin, then progress to an elementary school reader, and finish off as the young adult I am today. I will always remember my mother and her reading, she was fascinated!
And It is through the dead paper, her writing and self expression that the readers can sympathize with her plight as she says “I don't know why I should write this. I don't want to. I don't feel able. And I know John would think it absurd. But I must say what I feel and think in some way - it is such a relief!”
Self Assessment and Reflection Paper Tiffany Davis COM 516 September 3, 2012 Shari Cooper Self Assessment and Reflection Paper This class has been a very enjoyable experience. In school I believe that I learned a little slower than others, but I always manage to achieve good grades. One of the most exciting assignments during this class was to take a learning style assessment test to see which of the three learning styles I learn best from. I choose to take my learning styles assessment at http://www.HowToLearn.com/quiz. Taking the learning style assessment test was very interesting experience.
No one should be hated because of where they are from or what they look like. I can somewhat relate to this novel in the family and school sort of way. I have a very loving family (not a mean dad), and my school experience is and will be a lot like Francisco’s. I am planning on going through high school and college, just like Francisco. Both books were interesting and inspiring to read, and it was fun to learn about Parvana and Francisco’s
I know for a fact that my Grandma is also what makes reading so easy for me. Almost as if it’s a second nature! Whenever I become stuck or draw a blank when writing an essay I like to give my grandma a call and she always does know the right thing to say or other terms write. I also then thank her for giving up that time when I was younger for teaching me how to read and how to write. If it wasn’t for that time spent as a young kid living with my Grandparents, reading and writing, I honestly don’t know where I would be as far as writing, reading, or even as far as attending Purdue Calumet University.
These papers took the most effort, time, and reviewing. I generally did well on essays considering the impact they usually had on my grade. I consider most papers I turn in for class as accomplishments because, even though I don't enjoy writing, I have never had a terrible paper turned in. I don't really have any routine writing. the most I would consider is the occasional letter I write to my friend in Massachusetts.
