A LEADER FROM WITHIN Throughout my lifetime, I have learned that I am a natural-born leader. I willingly accept new challenges, conquer my goals, and strive to create a better community for myself, and those around me. From the time I began middle school, my leadership abilities became apparent. I enrolled in the Leadership class at the middle school where I thrived for two years. During my second year in the middle school leadership class, I enthusiastically served as the ASB president. My presidential duties consisted of helping to plan school-wide events, publicize school news to the student body (public speaking/speaking over the loudspeaker on campus), and I served as the Mistress of Ceremonies at my eighth grade promotion. Outside of school, I am also committed to the quality of leadership by welcoming new challenges and inspiring others around me. For example, when I was a freshman in high school, I gathered a group of other dedicated singers and appealed to the Pacific Grove Unified School Board on behalf of the cutting of the chorus class at the Pacific Grove High School. My dedication to leadership continues as I am a member of the People to People Ambassador Program. People to People is an international organization dedicated to helping youths travel the world and make a difference in the world. I have traveled on two People to People trips including a visit to Boston, Massachusetts where I was able to stay in the Harvard University dorms and participate in a two week program dedicated to helping students become better leaders in their community. I also was able to travel with People to People on a two week trip to Washington D.C. to witness the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama. Through my travels with People to People, I have made an effort to improve my leadership abilities and have learned how to make a difference within my community.
