President Barack Obama: “Back to School“ President Barack Obama held a speech called “Back to School“ back in September 2009 at Wakefield High School, in front of students from all over the country.
The president addresses the values of hard work and taking responsibility for paving your own way to success, no matter how hard the obstacles might be.

The purpose of his speech was to persuade and motivate the students to stay focused and do well in school and take full advantage of their potential.
His speech addresses to the American children from kindergarten up to high school. 
In the beginning of his speech, Obama says: “I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now, with just one more year to go“(pg. 1). He puts himself in the children's place by stating that he could imagine how some of them thinks and feels, and shows them that he recognizes those feelings and thoughts.
 
 He also adds his own personal experiences in his speech when he tells about his childhood in Indonesia with his mother, whom he was being home schooled by and that he had to wake up early every morning: “When I was young, my family didn´t have the money to send me where all American kids went to school. So she decided to teach me extra lessons herself.“(pg. 1)
By telling this personal experience he shows the students that he's grateful about his achievements and that he even had the opportunity to make it this far in the first place. The message in this is to show the children that you can achieve great things even though you might have a troubled life. A lot of the children might relate to his personal stories and that can motivate the children into focusing in school and to think about their future. 
He uses examples in every area of his speech in order for the children to see how they can be more efficient.
