Title: Zachary’s House Course: Ethical Issues in Human Services Name: Date: 12/18/2011 Instructor: The Zachary house for cancer came to me in a dream after my only nephew died, it is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing hope, and support for cancer patients who journey in life is uncertain. It is a place where people are given support, knowledge, and strength in a safe, relaxed, and positive environment. It gives people to feel like himself or herself and not as a hospital patient. This is very important especially when your whole world is falling apart. The top priority of this organization was to create a mission statement that provides a moral foundation for the care that is given at the Zachary house. It is free to the community who has a family member or themselves to feel that they are not alone, and are able to have a place, which provides social, emotional, and practical support. They are encouraged to share their experiences, knowledge and strength with each other in a safe, and positive environment, and respecting confidentiality at all times. It has free assistance and counseling for both the patient and families. This was very important because when Zachary was trying to get treatment and counseling we either had to pay for it because of not having the right insurance. This also leads to not getting any help or treatments, which was hard on everyone. Our message is to take one day at a time and to help relieve the burden patients feel that they put upon their family and friends. Cancer is not an infectious as a disease but does create a fear that affects daily lives of all those near and dear to us. We
