Even though Romeo and the nurse didn’t get off on a good start, she told Romeo that she will still deliver the message he sent to Juliet. “Good heart, and i’faith I will tell her as much. Lord, Lord, she will be a joyful woman.” (II.iv.156) The nurse had a change of heart since the start of her conversation with Romeo. All she cares about is Juliet and her happiness, so she’s willing to do what it takes to keep Juliet happy; even if it means caringly telling Romeo that she will deliver the message to Juliet, after he was so rude to her. When Romeo finds out the news that he is banished, he reacts immaturely.
The actions of the nurse and the Friar are responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. From the very begging of Romeo and Juliet’s newfound love, the nurse is supportive and helpful with Juliet. The nurse was an influential adult to Juliet and knew that the Capulets planned for Paris and Juliet to be married. She should have known better and discouraged Juliet from seeing Romeo. Instead, the nurse acted as a messenger between Romeo and Juliet for information about the wedding (Act II, scene iv).
Though not completely responsible, the nurse contributed more or less to the death of the misfortunate lovers. In the beginning of the play we see that the nurse is very supporting of Juliet’s relationship with Romeo, in fact bringing the couple together when Romeo was banished. However in Act Scene the Nurse tells Juliet she’s better off marrying paris. I think it best you marry with the county...Romeo’s a dish clout compared to him”. Had the nurse not betrayed Juliet, Juliet would have been able to make those important decisions with advice from her nurse rather than by herself.
He understands that this marriage is based upon an impulsive decision made by the couple since he knows how Romeo reacts to love. Earlier, Friar Lawrence gives caution to the unity because even though he thinks this marriage can be in the best interest for everyone, he understands the consequences of marrying the pair. However he
Mean girls/ Julius Caesar Comparative Essay In the movie Mean Girls by Tina Fey and the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare there are many motifs. I will be specifically looking at motifs of betrayal from both stories that illustrate the theme “you have to be careful who you trust”. In the movie Mean Girls the main character Cady becomes very good friends with Regina George. Later in the movie Regina lies to Cady by telling her that she is going to hook Cady up with a boy, when really, Regina is trying to get with that same boy. Another example of betrayal in the movie Mean Girls would be when Cady gets all of Regina’s good friends to turn against her.
After joining these two in marriage, he further helped the two of them out by keeping their marriage a secret. Another reason why Friar Lawrence was consistent with the universal will was when he tried to make the streets of Verona peaceful again. The constant feuding between the two houses on the streets was hated by all. Friar Lawrence tried to successfully unite the families by using Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence said “For this alliance may so happy prove/To turn your households’ rancour to pure love” [II.iii.91-92].
‘Is Così more about love than madness?’ Sarah Smith Louis Nowra’s play Cosi focuses deeply on the madness of each character, what makes them mad, how they are truly insane, but throughout this play we unfold a side to each of them that shows the audience how much love is incorporated in their lives. It may not be the typical type of love as in love for another person, but it just may be the love they have to something they care about in Roy’s case the theatre and performing, In Cherry’s case it was love at first sight between her a Lewis and for some it is definitely the love that each shares with another person. Cosi is beyond doubt about more than love than madness. Roy seems to be the over the top, dramatic, mad man that he is. But through madness
Veronica Lindquist English 2 5 March 2013 There are several ways a romantic relationship between two human beings can be flawed. One of the worst and most dangerous ways perhaps is for possessiveness, trust issues, misunderstandings, and in some severe cases, physical violence to be involved through fault of one of the partners. This is the case in Shakespeare’s Othello, between Othello and his wife Desdemona, which serves to show how Shakespeare was speaking out against abusive relationships and domestic violence. Desdemona and Othello did love each other, but Othello had abusive tendencies that were displayed through Iago’s plan quicker than they would have been had he not interfered, and Desdemona, the epitome of a woman and wife during the 1500s, allowed it and did nothing but try to serve her husband until her death. The marriage between Othello and Desdemona in Othello was, in fact, an abusive one.
To expand on the point as to why Friar Laurence is to blame, Romeo and Juliet both allow their passion for one another to take control over their judgements and actions. He knows they will do anything and risk anything to be together. It is that bond that eventually leads to them both committing suicide. This ending ties in with the Friar due to the fact that he was the one who first sealed their love by marriage. This action he chose to take could possibly have transformed the outcome of Romeo and Juliet’s lives by taking their love one step further.
What Is The Best Way To Respond To Conflict? "To thine own self be true”, Polonius once said in William Shakespeare's famous play Hamlet. In response to conflict, this character’s words has proven to be an effective way of dealing with tough situations. Although some may argue a better response to conflict is adaptation, individuals experiences such as Anne Frank and Sophie Scholl have shown that is not the case. In “Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler's Shadow” and an excerpt from “The Diary of Anne Frank”, the young girls experience oppression of their views and beliefs.
