Firstly, Friar Laurence married Romeo and Juliet knowing that their families hated each other and that it could end very poorly (Shakespeare 944-45). Friar knew this was a bad idea, but he continued with it and married the two. However, if he did not do this he would never be in trouble and Romeo and Juliet would then have to get married the ordinary way, thus, letting both families know. Next Friar decides to give Juliet a vial which will put her in a death-like state and sends a letter to Romeo about the plan, but it does not get to him (Shakespeare 993-1012). If Friar Laurence did not give Juliet the vial, Romeo would not kill himself because he thinks Juliet is dead.
It lead to them dying for each other’s love, when this could have been prevented if they weren’t married. “Your part in her you could not keep from death, but heaven keeps his part in eternal life.” He approved Juliet’s
Social structure of Verona C. Analyzing the tragic effect of love a. Othello and Desdemona b. Romeo and Juliet time, c. Overview of the Romantic tragedies Love is a word that has many connotations. In heterosexual love, we see variations in the intensity of the feelings between the lovers, which is due to many factors, including the life experiences and the true nature of love in the romantically engaged couple. The kind of love that Shakespeare explores in Othello and Romeo and Juliet is of a peculiar but a common type. Othello killed himself at the end not because he wanted to be with Desdemona, but rather because of keeping his honor. Furthermore, he feared facing the despiteful changes in the moods of Venice Senators against him.
To what extent is Romeo fortune’s fool in Act 3, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet In this essay I am going to include both sides of the argument of debating whether Romeo is Fortune’s fool in Act 3, Scene 1 of the play, Romeo and Juliet. On the one hand, Romeo could be seen as fortunes fool, which translates to meaning, victim of bad luck. Romeo could be seen to accurately describe himself as `Fortune's fool'. There are numerous incidents within the play where we see the truth in this statement. From the very start of the play when Romeo falls in love with Juliet to just hours before he dies, his life is fraught with misfortune.
That is, except for the star crossed lovers, Romeo Montague, and Juliet Capulet. This theme of hate in this play written by Shakespeare, encourages us to think about how others hate can come between your own love. Romeo and Juliet took their lives as they could not live without each other. This love that has come to a tragic end has brought the two feuding families to peace. They see that their own hate for one another has ended with the death of the ones they love most, and that they cannot let this continue.
“Ultimate fate and destiny caused the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”. Discuss. Romeo and Juliet is possibly the most well-known of Shakespeare’s plays and is consideration to be the most famous love story in English literature. Love between two young people is the theme of the play which prepares us for the ultimate fate and destiny through tragedy and sorrow of two young lovers ‘Romeo and Juliet’. The ultimate fate and destiny of Romeo and Juliet who would do anything to be together but the tragedy of death cannot be avoided because of their own actions,; young immature love and the barriers of a long standing family feud.
Romeo and Juliet frequently notice signs, such as when Romeo believes that Juliet is dead, he cried, ‘then I defy you, stars,’ (Act V, Scene I, Line 24) confirming the idea that Romeo and Juliet’s love, was not a part of their fate. The mechanism of destiny is clear in all areas involving the lovers: the feud between their families, the disasters that ruin Friar Lawrence’s plans and the tragic timing of Romeo’s suicide and Juliet’s awakening. These are not simple coincidences, but a manifestation of destiny, which causes the unavoidable deaths of Romeo and Juliet. “If only...” If only the letter was delivered to Romeo, if only Juliet had woken up sooner, if only fate was on their side. Against all odds, Romeo and Juliet did not give up their love for each other, right to the very end.
If they haven’t of been married would they still have killed themselves? Maybe if the Friar had of not wed them or told there parents if would have stopped them. The fight with Tybalt was what causes the banishment of Romeo. If Romeo hadn’t of killed Tybalt he wouldn’t have been banishment which would have mean he would have got the message about Juliets fake death and wouldn’t have killed himself. It was Romeos chose to fight Tybalt.
Both relationships really love one another and this shows they connect with one another. Another theme I chose was deception. The first of the two main deceptions is Don John and Borachio are planning to deceive Hero. They decide that they will stop their marriage by framing Hero as being unfaithful to Claudio on the eve of their wedding. Borachio makes most of the plans to of deception and to stop the marriage.
Friar Laurence also marries them for another reason based on love, he wishes for the children of both families to live in peace and end the feud. Also, Romeo’s love for Juliet prevented him from accepting Tybalt’s challenge to a duel, until his comrade, Mercutio is slain. This
