April 24, 2012 The Professional Sports industry is and industry that has people wondering & questioning if the athletes that play them are over paid or not? Well in my opinion and many others tend to lean to thinking the athletes are paid correctly and not over paid. Why I think they are not over paid is simply because of what it takes to become a professional athlete and its entertainment for all the spectators as well as all of the hard work& dedication that is put into their jobs. What does it take to become a professional athlete? #1-Well the best answer would be that it takes a person that is more than dedicated, a person willing to surpass any obstacle, a person that wants it so bad that it becomes there life.
Competitive sports: the most universal activity throughout the world, and possibly the universe. All sports have their loyal fans, who stick with them through the good seasons and the bad, the trophy-raising dominating seasons and the worst in the division seasons. However, obviously not every team can win their leagues championship every year, and mostly many teams go years upon years without winning some hardware. Years ago, teams with the best records that won championships typically generated the most income and revenue and would draft and buy the best players, therefore creating dynasties and would give other teams no chance of winning. In the recent years professional sports leagues have fixed this problem by creating what is known as
The teams have less money for promotions, advertising, and field or court maintenance. Caps help keep player from getting too greedy and wanting more money. Most NBA players today are money hungry and overly-confident in their abilities. If you buy the player for what their worth, and sell them for what they think they’re worth, you would make an extremely heavy profit. If a talented player is on a successful team, they’re going to want to stay on that particular team regardless of a few million dollars.
They would work hard to succeed because they had less than the American citizens. They worked fast and efficient creating a large add to surplus, they create a demand for outside supplies, which is felt in every department of business. There is more supply and demand, which increases the consumption of coal, and helps expand the railroads. (Doc 3) Immigrants would also act as strikebreakers. This would help benefit businesses because if workers were to go on strike, they wouldn’t have to stop or slow down production.
In recent years, the stereotypical views of men and women have shifted greatly from the previous outlook that citizens possessed in the earlier days of our country. The classic stereotypical views of men and women consisted of men always controlling and making the money whereas the women supported their husbands by taking care of the family and the house. In today’s world, women have the ability to obtain high-paying corporate jobs that in the past were strictly given to men. Women can provide themselves with a successful life without a man by their side. Though today’s world views men and women as closer to equal, readers using the gender lens have the ability to tell the distinct and clear limitations that Lillian Hellman gives to her characters in the plays The Little Foxes and Another Part of the Forest.
However, there is a major concern inside of the workforce. On average men earn more money than woman working in the same career position. This should be an outrage to business women everywhere. On the other hand, the gender hierarchy starts way before men and women enter their career field. Unfortunately, in thier adolescent years, girls and boys are influenced to take classes that are deemed appropriate for their gender.
Those opposing will likely argue that there are numerous jobs and positions that deserver higher wages for their line of work, as well as numerous other reasons, while professional athletes are doing nothing of importance, and for some reason making millions. Are professional athletes making millions to entertain? Yes they are. Do they deserve less because they support themselves, and their families, differently than most? No they
Yet as women’s position in America improved, there was still a disparity in the power distribution among genders. Men were still earning more and seen as the dominant gender, and unfortunately there wasn’t much women could do to change that. Some women figured if that was the world they were born in, they could use it to their advantage and depend on men in order to achieve wealth,
Salaries of Professional Athletes Philip Bruce (200217750) COMM1000-12S-30017 Robin Parkes Wednesday, August 8 2012 Salaries of Professional Athletes Should professional athletes be paid so much higher than other professionals? Why is it that doctors, firemen, teachers and others who save lives and sacrifice so much have to work so hard for their everyday living and get paid much less than pro-athletes? In an age of increasing income disparity and hardships for many, this poses a question about logic and morality. Pro-athletes are simply engaged in a fun sport and likely doing what they love best. Should they be paid that high?
Are footballers paid too much? Premiership footballers are amongst the richest people in today’s society. With their hundreds of millions of pounds, and the county in recession, I think that professional footballers are paid too much for they actually do to earn the extraordinary amount of money. The average wage of a footballer is £33868 per week, meaning that they earn, on average, in excess of £1.7 million per year. This is outrageous in comparison to the average wage of an average male earning £30724 per year and the average female earning £23967 (statistics from thisislondon.com).
