Wiedenbach, Henderson, & Hall

Wiedenbach introduced nursing as a professional practice discipline and nursing practice theory. However, each of these nurses introduced many key concepts to the nursing care we provide today. Each of these nurses focused on the patient, instead of the tasks to be done and plan care to meet the needs of the person. I admire this perspective of nursing, as it allow us as nurses to provide care that meets all aspects of the patients’ needs not only those related to medical needs.

Wiedenbach also explains the three ingredients essential to the prescriptive theory are as followed: 1. Nurse’s central purpose in nursing is the nurse’s professional commitment. a. I reflected on this theory in my life and I realized my professional commitment is to provide the best care I can to make sure the patient has an optimal outcome. Even though I am reshaped everyday into my most “desirable” nurse I hope to achieve by my actions to situations I am to overcome each day while taken care of my patients. 2. The prescription indicates the broad general action that the nurse deems appropriate to fulfillment of his or her central purpose. b. I reflect once again on my fulfillment and agree that the nurse should provide mutual care that is agreed on by the patient and the nurse. I am that person that incorporates the patient in the care provided. If the patient feels as if they are taking part in the care they have a better outcome. 3. The realities are the aspects of the immediate nursing situation that influence the results the nurse achieves through what he or she does. c. This is care that covers the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual factors. Which covers all aspects of the patient’s needs. By applying components that focus on every aspect of care.
