Not being from Texas myself I found The Alamo to be a very interesting movie and a very important part of history as well. The movie as a whole was very entertaining and humorous at times. In many ways it was very informing but after doing some researched I learned that not everything was historically correct. One of the major errors I noticed was with the characters for instance with Jim Bowie, the movie doesn’t indicate him being healthy when Jim Bowie was sick during the battle .The movie shows him of being struck by a cannon during battle. Even though, at that time Bowie was so sick he would had been lying in bed at home. The movie claims that Bowie lived in Texas but his home was in Kentucky to be exact. It also displays Bowie’s slave was named Jethro but historical documents show that Bowie’s slave was named Sam. Throughout the film Bowie is being portrayed as a drunk,…show more content…
Crockett’s death was exaggerated he never exploded an ammo storage, there is evidence showing that Crockett was captured and executed. The movie shows that Crockett became apart of the Alamo while he was hunting and drinking but the truth is Crockett rallied up the Tennessee volunteers with him to travel to the Alamo to help fight. The situation of the Santa Anna letter which was actually fake as well. Other historically incorrect events I found out were scenes like when the people of the Alamo were running from Santa Anna is false , Santa Anna let all the women and children of the Alamo to leave before the battle began. The wall climbing scene was really during the early morning darkness not night time. The building of the Alamo is also misrepresented in the movie. Its portrayed to be a very hidden area when in fact it was just across the river from San Antonio de Bexar. The event of Bonham delivering the message that the Alamo has fallen did not really happen for 3-5
