For these reasons Trudeau is without doubt one of the greatest Canadian’s of the 20th century. Pierre Elliot Trudeau had numerous accomplishments throughout his career which played an important role in Canadian politics. In 1969 Pierre Trudeau passed the Official Languages Act making French and English the two official languages of Canada. Trudeau believed that “all Canadians should capitalize on the advantage of living in a country which has learned to speak in two great world languages” (Craats, 21). This act enabled the law to give English and French equal status in the Canadian government.
The United Nations named Canada one of the greatest countries in the world. Canada is a great country because of its quality of life, and its great worldwide reputation with other countries. In Canada we have great Heath care system and many educational opportunities. Canada has a lot of tourism with many wonderful places to visit, and it also has the lowest crime rate in the world. Quality of life is one of the best; people that live here enjoy the security of knowing that their family will be safe.
My first one is that if you feel pride in other Canadians’ achievements (ex. A Canadian winning gold at the Olympics) and in turn feel a greater sense of Nationalism, then you have internalized your feelings of nationalism. Louis Riel is a glorious Canadian due to the documents he wrote which promoted equality and active participation in society for Metis and First Nations. For instance, in 1869 Riel wrote the List of Rights for First Nations. This document emphasized equality and rights for First Nations. This included equal rights for First Nations to participate in society, such as the right to vote, claim land, and maintain language and culture. In this list, Riel truly fought for all First Nations and Metis to be considered equals within society.
Here, in Canada people have all kinds of values that are expressed throughout everyone, such as; Equality with all of the citizens and the basic freedoms like freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom of thought. Sharing those values as a Canadian citizen makes me feel included in the community, just like how everyone else should feel, Canadian citizen or not. In all, being a Canadian is a great deal to me, it's not who I am underneath, but it's what I do that defines me (Batman quote! ), being Canadian. Now it's aboot time I hop back onto my polar bear and make my way towards my igloo, I have to catch me some hockey
Craig Kielburger Canada has a population of about 31000000 people, whom others may consider at least one of those people a hero, but this essay will argue that Craig Kielburger-the founder of “Twelve-twelve year old”, and “Free the Children” is the greatest Canadian hero. He is a man that shows intelligence, who was caring, and an advocator for the rights of children all over the world, and used all these qualities to make the world a better place to live. The first quality that shows that Kielburger is a Canadian hero is his intelligence. Craig graduated with a degree in Peace and Conflict studies, a double minor in Psychology and Politics from the University of Toronto and completed his Executive MBA at Schulich School of Business at York University. He even writes books!
Sir Wilfrid Laurier is one of the greatest politicians in Canadian history. He was born on November 20, 1841 to a poor family (Clippingdale 1979, 12). Most Canadians love him because he made Canada into a liberal country. In a speech he said, “Canada is free and freedom is its nationality” (Bowen, Lunn m and Rigelhof 2002, 78). Because of this, Canadians respected him a lot which also supported him to do more contributions for this country.
A Society, which is build mainly on a mixture of different cultures, many interesting things may happen. Canada, America and Britain are the best examples. The huge cultural crossover lead to an interesting cultural outcome. With such a variety and freedom we all want to belong to something that we can best identify with. People who live in nations that are based on an extensive history of cultural traditions are more aware where they belong, and what to identify with.
