Bolt is Bolt. He's a great runner. Being 6-5 adds to his success, you've just got to try to neutralize that." - Jenna Fryer -- Twitter http://twitter.com/jennafryer --- QUICKQUOTE: 'LEGEND' "I'm one step closer to being a legend." -- Usain Bolt on winning the 100 meters in 9.63 seconds, a new Olympic record.
This goal can be measured by comparing it to the SMART goal methodology we discussed in class. SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. This goal is specific because they must train and perform better each day to win the championship in the few weeks they had. It is measurable since they check each person’s time and how they progress, if one runner’s time doesn’t make it they get cut out of the top 7. Coach Newton always tells the boys however fast you run, run faster.
I could not help but wonder if I had helped these girls truly be the best players they could be or if their hopes would be crushed by embarrassment on the field and a large margin of defeat. Before the game, I took them to the end zone for a quick pep talk to remind them of the time and hard work they had given to this team. We broke out of the huddle and the game began. We scored on our first possession and never looked back from that point. The girls were executing every play to perfection.
My schedule consisted of waking up early every day and taking a 1.5 mile run, followed by taking 500 jump shots, a similar exercise Kobe performed during his high school career. Conquering the fear of failure became an imaginary bond between Kobe and I. I knew that working hard all summer honed my physical and mental edge on the court. When tryouts came around, the odds were against me, as the team roster had been established, but I did my best Kobe impersonation and played harder than anyone else on the court. I made the team because just like Kobe, I wasn’t going to fail. This experience taught me to have fortitude, and to always strive for my dreams.
But also my talent would enable me to be good at more than one event in track. At the end of my sophomore year, I took the decision to enter a new season with the determination to quit playing basketball and to be the best I could be on the track, so that I could get a scholarship for college. As one of the best coaches, in my eyes, Mr. Washington helped me become one of the fastest 100m through 400m runners in the state of California, by the end of my junior year in high school. I received a scholarship that would pay for all of my tuition and monthly bills while getting a college education. This is something that I wanted to happen in the sport of basketball, but Mr. Washington helped me see otherwise that my talent was meant for
“Michael Johnson of USA takes the gold for the 400m!” Coach said “It is time for the medal ceremony. Go up there and get your gold” I began to see a few tears in his eyes, but I did not say anything about it because I knew why he was crying. I just said. “Alright coach.” While walking up to stage to get my gold medals, I hear the crowd chanting “golden boy.” I always hear that ever since I started to run with my golden running shoes Nike made for me. Now that I am up here waiting to get my gold medals and hearing the crowd chant, my emotions become overwhelming.
A large portion of Holden’s depression comes from failing multiple times. He has flunked almost every class he has taken except English. When he fails, his classes, he does not care about it and goes on with his life. Holden is kicked out of Pence Prep because of his low grades and his inability to take school seriously. This quote shows that he does not care about his future in education.
He did not learn social skills and did not developed attachments. His behavior during his first 12 years varied. His teachers viewed him as unruly and difficult. His peers scorned him and teased him about his unkempt appearance and smell. At home, he lived in fear of his mother and resented his father for not helping him.
I would fall asleep in class because I was so tired. Then I could not finish homework because I had no idea of how to finish the assignment. Finally, working while in school and not doing homework assignments was another major factor in my becoming an alliterate
There, I was constantly bothered by other students because I dressed differently. My parents couldn’t afford to buy me name brand shoes or clothes. I was ashamed to go to school at times. I cried a lot for the ridicule that other students had on me. Even though that was my past, Camden High School
