When looking at the life on City Road (‘The Street’, 2009) and observing what happens throughout the course of a day, it is clear that the road is used by a variety of people for many different reasons. City Road has local shops up and down both sides, covering a large range of ethnic cultures. There are food shops, clothe shops, tailoring shops, a sport centre, which on the weekend turns into a market and local newsagents. Recently on City Road, a Tesco convenience store has been opened which to some has proven to be very popular and convenient but for others, it has made life quite difficult. Some of the local shops have been passed down through generations and a shop with such a large market chain attached to it has put many local businesses out of pocket.
Also found there are many small, unique, and cultural shops, in historical buildings, that when combined with the cultural aspect of Chinatown make this place a must see for all. Each building is beautiful, and none are the same. The alleyways are exciting and China town is a fun place for all. Of course the uses of the buildings and the buildings themselves are always becoming more modern, yet history is found for miles in this small but vibrant part of Victoria. Victoria’s historical landmarks make this city unique and full of depth.
The late 20th century city life can still be observed in many parts of Pyrmont today, and some buildings are heritage sites, such as the old residential houses seen at John and Point Street. The many sites for shopping, such as Star city, Sydney fish markets, the hundreds of restaurants or the markets at Darling Harbour have also made Pyrmont recognised as a large entertainment source and shoppers paradise, so clearly the maturing infrastructure and business developments also influential to the identity of
DBQ: Patterns of Trade from 1000-1450 Between the years 1000 and 1450, trade networks throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia were established and thriving. European and Muslim influence was working its way into Africa and China via the world trade network. Of course, these contacts from trade left cultural consequences in the areas they assimilated in to. The documents allude to Muslims having a greater influence and cultural impression on their contacts than the Europeans did on theirs, who emphasized religious conversion and admiring the goods and cultures that interested them. An additional document from the perspective of an African or Asian merchant would be useful, as the documents given only showed perceptions from Europeans or Muslims.
With reference to what you have learnt about City Road, outline how material things contribute towards differences on a street which you know. The street i'm going to talk about is called Staveley Road in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands. It is a busy road that leads into the town centre,it has a mixture of shops and houses, two public houses a large playing field and a childrens playpark.it also has a mosque and a church. It has a diverse multiracial community and this is reflected in the range of shops and the people that use them. There is competition for space from both people and traffic and it's these differences which im going to talk about. Differences are produced in the making of society, made by peoples relation to eachother, things
Drawing on what you have learnt from the “Making Social Lives” DVD and “Learning Companion 1”, describe some inequalities on City Road. City Road is a 1 mile stretch of road which is one of the busiest roads in Cardiff. It is used by a wide range of people at all hours of the day and night, home to a wide range of people and full of shops, restaurants, takeaways and bars. People use the road for many different purposes, including working on city road, using it to get elsewhere as well as visiting the range of different shops. In this TMA I will be explaining what inequalities I have established are present on City Road using the DVD and Learning Aids provided.
Sure thing is that most people who live in Kansas City think Kansas City is urban. However, people know how difference the Westport Road and Kansas City area when they visit the Westport Road. The several of music are sung in a bar. Every block in the Westport Road has a tree that makes me cozily. I love the Westport Road and Pennsylvania Ave. On the Westport Road and Pennsylvania Ave, there have a lot of international
Within Daring Harbour, 500m from Pyrmont the SHFA runs restaurants, shops, marinas and attractions like the Chinese Garden of Friendship. This provides accessible lifestyle options to nearby Pyrmont residents. It is also a factor drawing residents into Pyrmont, leading to Sydney’s structural reshaping and emergence as a world city with cultural dominance.
See what the people live like back in those days. Just to see the Union Station back in those days must have been great seeing all the people come and go. All the underground tunnels under 25th street must have been good thing for some people. Famous criminals like crime boss Al Capone came to Ogden. The subject is important to me in many ways.
He restored the imperial capital of Rome. The main street in Constantinople was very busy. It ran through a series of Public squares and in the Walls. This was a major trading area. You could find things from anywhere in the market.
