What Makes a Hero

Who doesn’t love a good hero movie? Especially the ones with Will Smith in them. In most every hero movie the hero leads a bland day-to-day life, which makes for a great contrast with their super powers and the action-packed parts of their lives. But I’m interpreting the prompt for this piece as the every day, real life heroes. The ones with characteristics leaning less towards extraordinary abilities and more towards things like passion, strong morals, and wisdom or insightfulness. Living in a place where world-wide disinterest is a growing epidemic, finding someone to look up to that has actual passion for the things in their life is a rare occurrence, but a lovely one no less. To have passion about the things and people and ideas in your life is vital for those looking to do more than just survive. If a person is passionate about their life in general then they get things done the way they want, who could deny admiring that? Good people with strong morals are becoming harder and harder to come across these days, so of course most sane people would cherish and admire those with this characteristic. A person with good morals is well, for one, typically intelligent, and two is in a healthy state of mind. A state healthy enough to decipher wrong from right; an important skill any hero should retain. Having good strong morals will also take a person far in life, also a trait to aspire to. Any person, old and young, can sit and listen to and appreciate any and everything that one old wise man or woman in their life has to say. So then it comes as no surprise that the personal heroes in our lives maintain some level of wisdom. Wisdom can mean any number of things; it just depends on how one interprets them. It can be interpreted as knowing about the things you don’t and want to know about, or gushing with compassion towards things most hold hatred for.
