I was surrounded by the daily musing of an American life, but was somewhat sheltered due to the average American school system's teachings. Although my parents where devote in their faith, they encouraged me to look beyond conventional ideals. Through my youth, my family held strong to teach me that understanding those around me will allow me to gain a stronger sense of myself. They felt that traveling was essential to my growth, and as such, my childhood was filled with wondrous adventures with my family throughout the world. So that to say my culture is "American" is understating my youth.
I never realized how blessed I am to live in this great country until I went to D.C. as a Semper Fidelis All-American. Not until a person has a relationship with one who serves for our country, or they serve themselves is he/she able to understand what all they truly do to protect us and make America the great country it is. At the end of my trip I realized that so many people are willing to defend this country for us, so I had to ask myself, “what am I doing?” It was not until after the trip was over that I realized, I could be doing more as an American citizen to better this country. The first day in D.C. going in, I knew more people than most because another boy from my small school also was selected; I did not feel comfortable at all being put in a room with 200 strangers. Being so used to California Missouri it was a real culture shock with all the diversity around me.
In America you have the right to pray, go to church, talk about your God to anyone, but in many other countries you don’t have the right to do that. Secondly, America has advanced technology. America has come up with many genius inventions. Some inventions are: the first gas powered car, steamboats, the telegraph, traffic lights, video games, and the electric TV. Ever since then we have been finding ways to make old inventions better.
Bob Mrs. Allen Honors English III September 5th, 2012 Daring to Dream Most all citizens of the United States of America believe that they can achieve the American Dream because of the opportunities afforded to us by our freedom if we work aggressively each day towards the goal. While the dream itself may be different for each individual, it is the idea of achieving the dream that has made the American people grow and prosper for over two-hundred years. The illustration of the American Dream given to us by Neil Armstrong exhibits the life achievements that can be obtained when you make the most of opportunities put before you through hard work and efforts. Neil Armstrong’s life embodies the very essence of the American dream through his life achievements. Obviously, Neil A. Armstrong was the first person to traverse across the rocky soil of the moon.
Ryan Malecha Analysis paper Final Draft Is the American Dream free What is the American dream? Everyone around the world believes in the American dream. It’s an idea that enticed many immigrants to come to America. They wanted to have a house to raise their family in, a job that would pay for their needs and wants, and freedom from violence, poverty, and lack of opportunity that they felt in the country they came from. The idea of the American Dream is rooted in the United States Declaration of Independence, which states that "all men are created equal" and that they have certain inalienable rights that include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Ted Turner and the American Dream The American Dream started when the pilgrims came to America to start a new life for themselves. They came to make new opportunities, start their families and begin something fresh. Even without people relocating, that same dream is still around today. My definition of the American Dream is that you can make a name and a living for yourself in America, and be independent in supporting yourself. Ted Turner exemplifies the American dream.
I enjoyed the street life as long as life was going good but when thing got tough I always ran home to mother and father. Finally I realized that my life and my future was more important that material things. I am grateful to be an American because of the advancement opportunities and the education here is extraordinary, therefore, as long as I am willing to learn a teacher or a book is waiting to educate me. I can say I emphasize daily to my children that education is spiritual growth is the key to success. Summary American and African American ways of life have their similarities and I am grateful to have experience both.
That’s been the main poster for America for a long time and is what everyone who lives here would like to achieve at some point in their life. Xavier University’s “State of the American Dream” survey states, “The four most prominent definitions of the American Dream are a good life for family, financial security, opportunity, and freedom”. If there is one message the United States has always relayed to the whole world about our country it's that "every man is created equal". So for years immigrants from all over the world fled to America in hopes of equal opportunities in achieving their American Dream. But what we preached was not always what we practiced and living the American Dream was not always as easy to accomplish then as it is
I believe in the American Dream. That anyone has the opportunity to achieve greatness regardless of race, background, or even education. Not only are there different opinions on what the American Dream is but many doubt as to whether the possibility of this dream still exists. Maya Lin a Chinese – American Architect said “ To me, the American Dream is being able to follow your own personal calling. To be able to do what you want to do is incredible freedom.” Coming from the Dominican Republic and seeing the hardships that people go through to get to the U.S. just for the opportunity reiterates my belief.
I have learned very valuable information that will help me in school and life. I have been dreaming of being in the Army or Marines since I was born. I was told after completing ROTC and finishing officer’s school I would get the first four years of college free depending on what branch I wanted to join. I also wanted to join to make friends and be in a class that goes beyond the classroom. I have made many friends including Cadet/Private Sommermeyer and Cadet/Private Tatum.
