The cake, usually great in size and color, is topped by a figure of the person whom is being celebrated. With many tiers, they cut and eat the first piece of cake. Both a quinceanera and a wedding dress are traditionally to be found as a white ball gown. I grew up with a very complicated family; both of my parents were married once before they married each other. From my dad’s first marriage he had two daughters, Sara and Jill. From my mom’s first marriage she had a son and a daughter, Adam and Jenni. I am the only child from both of my parents together.
There were food, games family and friends all the things a child could hope for at birthday party. One year, the same year I wanted to be a fashion designer, my mother brought me a sewing machine for my birthday. I was so excited I wanted to make EVERYTHING. That summer my grandfather paid for me to get sewing lessons from a lady he knew. By the time the lessons were over I had made a skirt, a purse and pajamas.
Brad and Meredith had to attend a court the day after to work everything out and to sign paper work. Luke was so shocked at how things were going so fast! It was the week before my 15th birthday. I was walking to the schoolhouse in Clovis, New Mexico with my four siblings, feeling heavy with mixed emotions. I was not a child anymore; or rather, I wouldn’t be in a week. This left me feeling above the childish emotions of anticipation and excitement. Every year, as was tradition in my mexican- american family, the person in my family who’s birthday it was would receive gifts such as baked sweets, candy, and fruit.
