Was WW1 Inevitable? Over a hundred years ago the First World War started after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. The assassin took place in Sarajevo by a group of Serbian nationalist. Some causes of world war include Militarism, alliances and imperialism and nationalism which were all indirect causes and the assassination of Franz Archduke which was a direct cause. The assassination could have been prevented if Serbia attempted to make agreements to solve battles of the Serbians and slave against Austro Hungarians because as a result, the Serbians and the slaves earned no reward after the assassination, it just gave them an excused to attack them. I think that it was not a considerate action by the Serbians to be acting so radical when they hold a slighter power compared to the Austro Hungarians. Secondly, WW1 could have been avoided if the countries of Western Europe didn’t hold any guidelines of militarism were not corrupt and were not influenced by the military. It would have been possible that the governments would resolve the issue through words rather than starting a world war. Lastly, If Germany did not attack Belgium, Britain and along and their allies, they would have not been included in the War. If Germany chose to support its own ally, Austria Hungary instead of declaring war with the other empire group involving Russia, then France would have not have attacked Germany.
