Voltage Transformer Test 1. TEST OBJECTIVE To make sure that VT is in good condition and follow the specification given by the VT detail at the name plate and factory test result. Below are the test which will be carried out at site: i) DC Insulation Resistance test ii) Polarity Test iii) Ratio test 2. TEST EQUIPMENT i. Multimeter ii. Analogue Meter iii. Leads cable/ Injection cable iv. 1 kV Insulation test v. 5 kV insulation test vi. Polarity test set vii. Step-up voltage viii. Variac 3. REFERENCE i. Test Certificate ii. Checklist iii. Schematic drawing 4. SAFETY Avoid from VT short circuit during ratio test has been conduct. Make sure injection cable is fully insulated to prevent from short circuit to the human that may touch the cable. 3. PROCEDURES • Inspection and check required before carried out the VT test. a) Confirm VT details are as per design and specification requirement. Check name plate contents are complete. b) Physical check on the VT for any damage or defect. c) Confirm the primary positioning of the VT e.g. a and n is according to the schematic drawing. d) Check that the VT terminal box is clean and the seal is in good condition and confirm the terminal labeling is as per schematic drawing. e) Inspection at the marshalling kiosk/switchgear: i. Check that the ratio selection (for multi-ratio VT) is made at the marshalling kiosk. ii. Confirm that the star point of the VT is derived at the MK iii. Confirm the neutral grounding of the VT secondary. f) Check that the oil level is within the permissible range(if applicable). g) All the above inspections and checks shall be recorded in the test certificate.
