18 October 2011 Analysis Essay September 11, 2001 On September 11, 2001, three planes were hijacked and flown into both World Trade Center buildings, and the Pentagon, killing hundreds of people. This picture was taken in New York on the morning of the attacks on the World Trade Center. It shows three average looking men, walking through the ash and dust with some sort of purpose about them. They could be looking for loved ones amongst the rubble, or they could just be trying to find a way out of the carnage. This photo is incredibly dark and morbid looking, which is fitting for the day on which it was taken. These men are just three of the thousands that witnessed the attacks in New York City on September 11. After the attacks happened, New York City was literally turned into a disaster zone; it looked like a bomb had been dropped. One of the men looks like he has some sort of shirt around his face, and another man looks like he has a collared shirt on, so these people could have been bystanders, or survivors who…show more content…
My mother had a best friend whose husband was killed in the attacks; apparently he was trapped in the first tower when it collapsed. So, we were visiting that family a lot, and comforting them whenever we could. But what really hit me hard was that this was just one family. After the attacks that day, hundreds and hundreds of people lost loved ones to one of the most brutal and barbaric attacks in human history. I was only in the 2nd grade at the time when the attacks happened, but I still knew how awful it would be to come home from school and find out that one of your parents were killed in a mass murder.
