On a Tuesday morning Spetember 11, 2001, a tragedy struck the United States and it changed the course of history. World Trade Center Twin Towers and the Pentagon were targeted by hijacked aircraft, killing thousands, and initiating the death of almost a million in the name of the victims of 9/11. An act of terror was committed, regardless of whom the committer was. Such a horrendous act deserves a genuine unbiased investigation, which the United States government failed to provide. The 9 11 Commission report, set out to “prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks”, found out that 19 arab hijackers led by Osama Bin Laden breached the Unites States’ defense system, crashed into the twin towers and pentagon, and eventually resulted in structural failure of the Twin Towers leading to the collapse.
Media and Memory: Audience Research into 9/11 Introduction The following report is based on the events of September 11th 2001. On that morning, 19 terrorists from the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger planes and in a series of suicide attacks, proceeded to crash the jets into their preplanned targets. The first plane struck at 8:46am when American Airlines Flight 11 hit Tower 1 of the World Trade Center, the second attack occurred 17 minutes later when a second jet United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into Tower 2, within 2 hours the twin towers of the World Trade Center had collapsed, and thirdly American Airlines Flight 77 at 09:37am collided into the Pentagon. This proved to be the last attack as the passengers
September 11th, 2001 In my perspective, what happened on September 11th, 2001, was an act of terrorism on the United States. It was a decade ago that 19 terrorists took control of four planes, flew two into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, hit the Pentagon with a third, and crashed the fourth in a field in Pennsylvania after passengers resisted and made it impossible for the terrorists to complete their mission. The government also thought that 9/11 was an act of terrorism put on by the Muslims. While conspiracy theorists have a different perspective because they believe that there was more to this attack, it was plotted out and people from America were in on it. There have been many different perspectives on what really happened on this day.
(fbi.gov, 2008) The World Trade Center’s parking garage located in Manhattan, NYC has exploded with a manmade bomb. The attack turned out to be something of a deadly dress rehearsal for 9/11…Al Qaeda would later return… (fbi.gov, 2008). The U.S. was violated by a terrorist attack from those comparable to Al-Qaeda. According to History.com a few radical Islamic fundamentalists were arrested, convicted and sentenced to life by a federal jury for their role in the bombing. One may say this incident alone foretells the following acts to follow.
Around the same time hijackers crashed the third airliner into the Pentagon and the fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Somerset County.Hearing all these tragic events just makes me shiver. Many people died in this event and even more were leaft with horrible memories that will stay with them all there life. I was nine at the moment. I was watching the news and remembering seeing the two biuldings on fire and smoking all over the place. People were running all over the place scared, terrified, shocked.
Every day I think about 9/11 it paints a picture in my head of the 2 towers falling and people jumping from them to the ground and killing them instantly. People on the ground running and screaming for their lives. It also makes my heart drop when I think of what happened that day. It could have been worse, our country could have been bombed and we all could have died. This attack is why we have been in war for the past 10 years and we have come a long way since that attack.
From that I would like to share two events that affected me the most dramatically, 9/11 and social media. On September 11, 2001, 19 members of al-Qaeda hijacked airplanes. They’re mission was to attack targets in the United States (History). Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and a third plane hit the Pentagon. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks (History).
The United States has seriously been trying to fix these problems ever since the World Trades Centre attacks. The United States is such a highly populated and powerful country which could aid in terrorists immediately targeting them for terrorist acts and for all there resources to aim for to cause large destruction. The biggest example of terrorism in the United States was on September eleventh, two thousand and one, when four passenger planes were hijacked by terrorists. Two of the planes were flown directly into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, which caused massive fires. Less than two hours late, this caused the collapse of the towers.
He couldn’t even believe what was happening. Watching planes crashing to the Trade Center, seeing people only way is to jump off the building from the 78th floor, and then realizing we were being attacked. 9/11 was the day America changed and it is the worst attack in U.S history. More than three thousand died and our country in mixed emotions. Quickly fell on al-Qaeda, and in 2004, the group's leader, Osama Bin Laden, who had initially denied involvement,
On September 11, 2001, three airplanes were hijacked by terrorists to attack the two World Trade Centers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC. The death toll was about 3,000 people. This series of events is the single largest concerted attack on US soil, right along with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The 9/11 events are made all the more visible through the coverage of modern media, such as live television broadcast of the collapse of the towers. As such, the impact on the country are deep and wide.
