Some victims’ wish to have an apology from the person who committed the crime, some wish to have a relationship with that person and some just wish to be left to go about their lives through acceptance of what has happened. One of the most common ways victims’ achieve what they aspire is through what’s called Restorative Justice. Restorative justice is defined as a broad term which encompasses
Punishing and following up with rehabilitation through community supervision can help prevent crime. Punishment and community supervision should be based on the type of crime. If the appropriate sentence is issued upon a minor, it can help prevent them from future criminal activity. Each act of violent crime is different and every minor has a different back story. Once the crime is committed, the next step should be having a social worker and therapist speak with the minor.
It helped to understand his faulty behaviors and decision making and to hopefully take a step toward the right path of correcting such irrational thought processes. It gives the treatment team the ability to begin to uncover the reasons that are behind the outwardly manifested behaviors. There are previous studies who have analyzed sexual offender behavior using a CBT approach. Using the CBT approach for future treatment with Bradley will enable the treatment team to specifically look into how Bradley feels his risk factors are affecting him. This treatment plan focuses on taking negative thinking patterns and inserting positive thinking patterns in their place.
Other questions that I will also talk about are how to reduce ethical problems in an investigation, what prosecution problems could arise and what ethical issues are related to the prosecution. What are the specific ethical considerations that need to be addressed when investigating the specific crime? When an investigator is investigating a rape, he or she would need to be very sympathetic and try to understand that the victim is going through a horrific incident. The investigator must be very careful when asking the victim questions about the rape and the suspect/suspects and not to assume anything. This information could be used as evidence later when it goes to trial in court.
I agree that deviance is beneficial to society because it shows the limit and boundaries that we can be pushed. It is also beneficial in the way that the world shouldn’t be perfect and we need to take a break from the norm once in a while 2. If you were going to study some aspect of crime, what research method would you use? Why would you use this method? What advantages would this method give you as you studied your topic?
This paper will discuss, and analyze restorative justice, its history, and its impact on both offenders, and victims. It will also discuss the pros, as well as the cons
This range of problems usually occurs because the client is in a particular place at a given time, unlike that of the developmental perspective. In this perspective the individual may not have done anything to contribute to or cause them to occur, responsibility begins once this problem has occurred and identified as an issue. In examining a client after they have been violently assaulted, there are problems that exist because of the attack. The feelings of anger, fear, shame, and questioning their actions can occur. It is important for these individuals to seek help for the aftermath of the assault in order for them to return to a previously psychological healthy place.
Treatments involving this disorder, PTSD, are, “A social support system can reduce PTSD… a treatment practice called desensitization may be used, this treatment practice helps reduce symptoms by encouraging one to remember the traumatic event and to express it out loud and also to include your feelings about it as well,” (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001923/). Treatments like this can snap someone out of the drought they are in. Becoming more social and open about what you keep within yourself, such as talking about the secrets about the abuse you went through one person keeps away from another usually can result to a better, stress free, and PTSD free
These models of punishment would better suit the offender because it would allow the offender to be reintegrated back into the community after the offender’s incarceration and rehabilitation term has expired. This model of corrections would help the offender seek proper treatment for the driving under the influence, and sentence him for the stealing of a vehicle. So with this model he would have incarceration, treatment/rehabilitation, and perhaps strict probation depending on how
Restorative justice is an alternative way to look at criminal justice(Stahlkopf, 2009) and react to a criminals behaviour. The concept of restorative justice is to allow the offender to repair some of the damage they have caused their victims. This is usually done through face to face meetings known as conferencing. If face to face meetings cannot be held other indirect methods like emails, phone calls or conferencing through mediators can be facilitated. During these conferencing processes victims, their families, and the
