P4&M2 – Counter terrorism: Counter terrorism is defined as political or military activities designed to combat and prevent terrorism. Intelligence - At the threat to the UKs security and economic well-being more complex and more global, the various members of the intelligence community are working more closely together than ever before, this includes SIS, GCHQ and Mi5. These different agencies bring together their unique but high complementary skills set to tackle a range of issues, including technical, international and human intelligence. Liquid items must be placed in clear plastic bags, this includes toiletries, make up, perfume and aftershave. Also all large electrical items must be removed from hand luggage beforehand. Coats, jackets, jumpers, high heels, belts, watches and metal jewellery must all be removed before going through x-rays. The UK once had a new method of screening passengers to further improve airport security using backscatter X-ray machines that provide a 360-degree view of a person, as well as "see" under clothes, right down to the skin and bones. They are no longer used and were replaced by millimetre wave scanners which shows any hidden items while not showing the body of the passenger. There are also sniffer dogs that go around the airport detecting drugs or anything suspicious. This is an effective method as these machines and dogs are able to detect anything, this then lowers the amount of anything illegal entering or leaving the country.
