Traffic Free Utopia

The changes are subtle at first glance as I gaze around my new society. After wandering for about ten minutes, I notice that there are no obnoxious dogs barking, people are smiling and friendly, pollution is low, the temperature is a comfortable 72 degrees and the sun shines bright everyday. Just like Guns and Roses put it, paradise city is a place where the grass is green and the girls are pretty. Everything is peaceful and relaxed, and most noticeable in my ideal world – there are no traffic problems. In the current world, traffic and the hassles that come with it leave much to be desired. Road rage, time wasted in traffic jams, and head on car crashes are plenty to cause concern. Filter in the price of gas of wasted sitting in traffic and the frequent wear and tear on brake pads and it’s enough to drain a paycheck quicker than a stoplight turns red. Worst of all, valuable radio and television time is spent reporting the rush hour tangles when they could be playing the latest P. Diddy song or showing Cheers reruns. The problems of modern traffic are gone in my ideal world with a simple solution. A system of tubes will run along the current streets propelling people to their desired destination. Stepping into a tube will quickly and without delays, accidents, or stop signs, transport people and cargo to wherever they need to go. Clearly an engineer would need to work out the kinks, but overtime a transportation system not dependant on cars will be appreciated. A society with little or no traffic on the street would be a benefit to all. Pollution would drop, budgets would rise, and anger management classes would see fewer members losing their tempers over their commute time. The dangers of car travel would be eliminated including the unsafe drunk drivers and elderly ladies who can’t see over the dashboard. The freedom to go wherever the roads
