We have all heard the age-old questions of whether or not old dogs can learn new tricks, or if there really is a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow. Well, the writer has all the answers to the Chinese related age-old questions that her fellow classmates inquire about. While her peers interrogate the kindergartener with questions such as, "If you don't get an A on this math test, does that mean your parents will beat you," and, "What does 'Ching Chong Chung Choo Chang' mean," she simply responds with an unenthusiastic answer of either yes or no. While being questioned, she has the ever familiar urging need to be, "a four-foot, blond-haired Barbie." To make matters worse, the then kindergartener finds out that her class will be learning about her culture.
I personally am a strong believer that an “ideal society” should have no guns; nevertheless crime is a big problem to the citizens of our society and guns are necessary. Therefore, it is not recommended that we ban guns completely. The most pragmatic thing to do is to reduce the availability of guns and make it difficult to procure them by making sure that they are given only to people who are mentally capable of handling them. There is a definite need to ban guns since their liberal usage leads to large-scale public massacres, which are suited for the field of war, not civilized society. Weapons like automatic rifles and assault weapons are tools created with the purpose of mass killings.
Many of the young kids in China use the Internet as an escape from reality. There are 2 million Internet addicts in China, the problem is so sever that they have volunteer groups standing outside the cafe to prevent kids from going inside. With China's kids
If this bill were to be passed it would hold the agencies accountable for uploading criminal history records. This bill being passed would not strengthen the checks but it would make sure that they stay updated. I think this is a good idea because this could result in guns not being sold to people with criminal backgrounds. Then again, this bill does not fully help the school shootings happening across America. If a kids parent has the consent to
The author of this context has used different techniques to suck the audience into believing about this newspaper article. He uses ways of scaring the readers by telling them the truth about what is happening in the very place they live at. He tells the readers that their very teenaged children may be a part of organised crime by buying drugs and getting into a lot of debt to very dangerous people. They may start at about 100$ for a ‘point of methamphetamine’ and then get addicted to the drugs and end up getting into very huge debts. He also states that you may get a knock at 2am at your door with a thug demanding money, and the only way to pay them without getting killed is to sell businesses to pay back the mounting debt that their children have gotten into.
Up to that point, this was the most significant school shooting massacre in American history. This massacre sparked an issue that was lurking in the minds of the American people – gun control. Many people think the issue of gun control just comes down to whether guns are legal or illegal. However, it delves much deeper than that; the argument has many different viewpoints with different objectives and different solutions for problems associated with gun control. The overall question that summarizes the topic may be seen as this – Is the right to bear arms more important than the safety of the general public?
Bullying in Schools and How We as a Nation Can Stop It Brittney Still DeVry University Bullying in Schools and How We as a Nation Can Stop It Bullying happens everywhere. It can be found on the news, in the paper, and even online. The statistics are alarming and if we, as a nation, do not do something now to stop it, it will only get worse. Bullying needs to be at the forefront of every parent’s mind and in the media until a solution is found. A recent article states that about 77% of students have admitted to being the victim of a bully.
The purpose also is if law enforcement was to take the evidence it would not be used in the court of law unless issue or that person can be set free of all charges. Basically one wrong moved can make us lose a suspect of a horrible crime if we are not careful. Law enforcement just need to be cautious so they are doing their jobs correct, and setting a person free will get them into trouble (cjlf.org, 2011). When we are identifying the exclusionary rule it is a great rule to have so police have to stop and think. Police have to think before they search because it could cost them a lot if they just do what they want.
Although police officers stand for peace, there are many countries where people view police not as the hero but as the villain. Even in safe, developed countries like Canada and the United States, acts of police misconduct have occurred. For these reasons, police officers should not be allowed to carry firearms. Eliminating guns won’t eliminate police misconduct; however it will take some power away from them but that can be good because they will also be gaining power this way. It sounds confusing but when people see a man with a gun, no matter what side of the law he is on, they will get intimidated and possibly fear him.
Simmel’s ideology portrays culture’s ability to oppress individuals due to the effects of social norms and the abuse of power. This can be exemplified in the Aboriginal and European segregation in Canadian history resulting in residential schools. It can also be discussed through the “textbook Indians” stereotype that has been taught in institutions for many years. This phenomenon exists within numerous countries, where oppression and racist attitudes are a key attribute in each country’s history. Sadly, after all of these historical events, cultural oppression continues to be a problem even with the enactment of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
