THE STATUE OF LIBERTY – THE MOST HISTORICAL PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN I have been seeing pictures of the statue of liberty virtually on anything that has to do with America since I was a child but without knowing its significance and symbolism until i visited the monument in summer 2006. For over a century, the Statue of Liberty has stood valiantly in the open air, symbolizing freedom in United States and throughout the world. She has held a Patriotic place in each and every American heart since she was unveiled in October 1886. She greeted all the immigrants into Ellis Island, announcing that their journey to the ‘Land of the free” has finally come to an end. The flaming torch, flowing robes, the sandals, the broken chain and spiked crown have long been an inspiration for Americans, due to the fact that they all symbolize Freedom and Liberty. The Statue of liberty is perhaps the most notable and world renowned symbol. Her historical background which is a unique mixture of traditions makes it the most famous and historical landmark. The statue is strategically located on the Liberty Island of the Hudson river welcome immigrants worldwide as they enter the country through the New york City harbor giving them hope and confidence that their freedom guaranteed. This welcome is an inspiring ritual of freedom that continues for over 125 years. The riding of ferry to the Liberty Island where the Statue is standing is a unique attraction itself. The ferry conveyance of individuals from different nationality and race - with a common mission of paying a historical homage to the iconic figure transform the few minutes ride into a little carnival.
