THE SIGNIFICANCE OF EDUCATION IN OUR SOCIETY SHOULD NOT BE UNDERMINED. Good day Moderators, Time keepers, Panel of Judges, Co-debaters and my able listeners. I am here to support the motion which states “THE SIGNIFICANCE OF EDUCATION IN OUR SOCIETY SHOULD NOT BE UNDERMINED.” Before I proceed, I would like to briefly define the words, ‘EDUCATION’ and ‘SOCIETY’. Education literally depicts the method or process of teaching, learning in Schools or collages, or the knowledge one acquires through this process of leaning, and Society on the other hand is an organization of people who share similar interests. Ladies and gentlemen and my fellow Pupils, permit me to say that Education goes beyond reading, writing and arithmetic. It is one of the most important investments a country or society could ever make for its people and future to critically reduce poverty and inequality. Education is essential for everyone. It is the level of education that helps people earn respect and recognition. In my own opinion, it is an indispensable part of life both personally and socially. The importance of education is undeniable for every single person. It was only with the advent of education that people began to gain knowledge and enlarge their views over the world. Below are my salient points: POINT 1 Firstly, I must not hesitate to state the fact that the importance of Education in our society should not for any reason be undermined. This is because, it gives people critical skills and tools to help them better provide for themselves and their children. The mental power to make exploits in order for people to earn their living lies in education. People who are well educated tend to be smarter than uneducated ones in surviving life on their daily basis and the skilled labour has been provided for them to cater for themselves and their family.
