Desecration. Misdeed. ‘The crime of inflicting physical pain, suffering or death on an animal, usually a tame one, beyond necessity for normal discipline.’ (The Free Dictionary). These are only some ways to describe the traumatic abuse the animals get from people. People often do not realize that the act of neglecting, ignoring can also be a part of animal abuse. They also do not realize that animal cruelty is an act of killing ourselves that can be solved by law enforcement, environmental protection, prohibition of animal testing. People are under the obsession that animal testing is one of the safest ways to experiment different chemicals and rationalize themselves from the fact that it’s one of the tragic ways to kill a living creature.…show more content…
There are several reasons to why animal testing needs to be stopped. The method of animal testing is ‘bad science’ since The Food and Drug Administration reports that 92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans. Animals might have similarities to humans but they’re not exactly the same, which means testing on animals is useless. Because of that, animal testing is also an act of wasting our time, money and resources that we can spend on other human-relevant researches. In America, 106,000 deaths a year are attributed to reactions to medical drugs. This proves that animal testing brings an inaccurate result and we should not depend on the result. In other words, animal testing should be replaced with another…show more content…
One of the modern methods include advanced tests using human cells and tissues, which is known in vitro methods). Scientists create tissue models that can be used to evaluate the safety of drugs, chemicals, cosmetics and lots more. A human cell-derived skin model duplicates key traits of normal human skin. Another replacement is the computer modeling system. Researches have created computer models that are able to simulate human biology and the progression of developing diseases. Also it accurately predicts how the human body will react to the new drugs, unlike animal testing. Lastly, researching with human volunteers is a way to replace animal testing. “ ‘Microdosing’ is a method that provides vital information on the safety of an experimental drug and how it is metabolized in humans prior to large-scale human trials” (www.peta.org). Volunteers who have agreed to be a part of the test are given an extremely small drug dose and are monitored by highly advanced imaging techniques to observe how the drug behaves in the body. This test would have the most precise result since the experiment is being tested on humans and how the human body reacts. It won’t kill or give any big impacts to the volunteers since only small quantities of drugs are being tested. There are lots more ways that are able to replace animal testing that are way more dependable than the results of animal
