His enthusiasm at the farm is contagious and gets George, Candy and Crooks to believe in it. Lennie represents the weak and his innocence ensures his inevitable
Even though the Sky Chief did not show any respect for the nature, when he asked the men to uproot the tree, he still respected the nature and his wife by uprooting the tree just to make her dream come true. Not only the Onondaga tribe showed respect for others, another tribe that respect is very important for them is the Modoc Tribe. On “When Grizzlies Walked Upright” the Modoc tribe shows that their cultural beliefs matter a lot to them. It shows that they are peaceful and have really strong family values. Just like every other
Or could he? After all how can one judge him on a standard he may not have shared. In order to determine the meaningful quality his life had on himself we have to determine his philosophy on the subject. “It is the experiences, the memories, the great triumphant joy of living to the fullest extent in which real meaning is found. Go it’s great to be alive!” (Krakauer 37) Here he can see that McCandless’s philosophy that a meaningful life is living life to the fullest extent, in McCandless’s case running off to become a vagabond and eat plants.
Eidson influenced my first impressions of Nat Swanson by persuading me to believe he was a bad and lonely character from the start of the novel. Eidson clearly demonstrates Nat Swanson as a lone ranger, a one-man gang and a loner in this story. At first Eidson reflects on Nat Swanson’s history to reflect his characteristics. Nat Swanson lost his whole family in an incident involving Comanche’s at a young age and was passed around foster homes. He felt abandoned because he also knew himself that he was only taken in by family for his work ethics but not for the caring and love of a child.
2.Loneliness is a part of life on the ranch "Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don't belong no place. Shane exudes a formidable yet caring demeanor which is only amplified by the clothes he wears and how he takes care of himself and his belongings. Shane is selfless; he risks his life in order to get the chance of saving the homesteaders from Fletcher and Wilson , the villains in the story, even at the expense of his own safety. Shane is very humble and reliable, he admits that Joe is more of a man than he will ever be and provides comfort for Joe's whole family. Shane is the archetype of what a hero is, and Jack Schaefer did an excellent job at portraing him as one. "The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of tiny pushes of each honest worker.
Although he is not involved in politics, the boys of his town admire his traits and believe that he is a perfect candidate to represent the population. Smith is even called a “hero” among some of the boys. Smith loves the outdoors, is good with his hands and is a “people person”. His ability to relate to the people is what allows him to resist tyranny, corruption and stand up for his beliefs. He references documents such as the United States Constitution and The Declaration of Independence as grounds for his arguments against the “Taylor Machine”.
Creating a grave and planting a tree requires the same action, digging a hole. The first stanza of the poem introduces a person, the narrator, digging “hole, laying you into it, carefully packing the soil”. This refers to both planting a tree, and burying a man. The weather is dark and cold which introduces a sad and harsh tone to the poem. The narrator than continues describes a tradition in Sicily, where planting of a tree represents the birth of a child, because the earth has "one more life to bear".
After a long time they get mean.” All the characters have inner conflict because of dissatisfaction with the external environment and of the people around them. This disappointment gives air to the hopes and dreams that lurks in most of the protagonists of the novella. In contrast to ‘Of mice and men’ is a gloomy tale, a parable of men traveling through a world of brutality, inhumanity and distinction. Their dreams look to be darkened, blocked by different means, pleasure seems to be impossible, and physical deformities affect and cut down their hopes. At the beginning of the novel, the scene is taken into a forest with plenty of sunshine and a tree promising that life is beautiful.
