The Importance Of Obeying Laws

Recently I was leaving post through the All American gate. I was following a van when another vehicle passed us. I then looked in my rearview mirror and saw an MP with his lights on. Since it is the law to get out of the way of emergency vehicles, I moved to the shoulder of the road. He then pulled in behind me and said that I was speeding even though I was behind another vehicle. He also told me that my tag had an insurance stop on it. I was not sure what that meant so I asked, it means that the DMV did not have a record of my insurance. So they had revoked my tag. As a result of this I was given a speeding ticket and my vehicle was impounded. The ticket costs one hundred and seventy five dollars, and the fee for getting my car out of impound is going to cost around two hundred dollars. I was also given a negative counseling statement. For punishment I am having to write this essay on why it is important to obey the law. They have laws in place for a reason, they are there to protect people. You are putting yourself and others at risk if you are speeding, run a red light or stop sign, don’t wear your seat belt, or are drinking and driving. If you are speeding and lose control of your vehicle you could hurt or kill yourself or someone else. If you run a red light or stop sign, there may be another car coming and you could hit them. If you are not wearing your seat belt and you get into an accident you could be thrown from the vehicle. The speed limit is there to keep you at a safe speed for the road. The traffic lights are in place to organize the traffic flow at intersections. And the seat belt is there to keep you within the protected area of your vehicle. The seat belt works in conjunction with the air bags to keep you safe in the event of an accident. Without it you are putting yourself at risk.
