As I reflect on this statement, I see the development of my knowledge through the first two courses. I have used several key factors gain through the communication class that helped me with my current role. In the communication course reading materials, I applied various topics while having conversations with individuals in my team this included techniques for active listening, and obstacles that affect active listening (Dobkin & Pace, 2006). Communication is a key component for future success and relationship building. My goal is to apply the knowledge gain in each course and reinforcing it in my professional career, and at the same time make a positive social change in my community.

Reflective practice is important to the development of lecturers as professionals as it enables us to learn from our experiences of teaching and make easier student learning.
It is a process by which two or more people exchange ideas, facts, feelings or impressions in ways that each gains a common understanding of the message. We need to build relationships with the service users that we work with, their families and our colleagues to enable us to work effectively. Relationships and communication skills are closely linked, as good communication will help to build good relationships. Relationships are influenced by the way we communicate this not only includes the language we use and how we listen to others but also our body language, gestures and facial expressions. If we do not communicate well with either a colleague or service user this could affect the way we work, as it could cause an atmosphere or tension in the work environment.
Communication is crucial for developing positive relationships with children, young people and their families, colleagues and other professionals. Communication allows ideas to be conveyed clearly and succinctly. People communicate for numerous different reasons, to build relationships being one of them; this will enable you to work more effectively as a team with your colleagues but to also gain trust with a service user so they can talk to you if they have any problems/ concerns. Another reason is so you can share information, this is vital in my work setting because, for example, if a service user begins a new course of antibiotics then the member of staff dealing with this must pass the information on to all other staff to make sure they continue the course of medication.
If we want to sell our own products with other countries it is necessary to learn of their cultures, languages, needs and wants to be successful. Another example of the relationships of global and diversity awareness is the changing demographics of the country. As the population grows, more and more work force will be of people of different races and genders. People will have to interact with each other in this kind of situation. I personally see the world being impacted by global and diversity awareness with the recent hate crime and bulling is being addressed more and more every day.
“Transformational leaders are able to increase follower self-efficacy, giving the group a ‘can do’ spirit. Followers are more likely to pursue ambitious goals, agree on the strategic goals of the organization, and believe the goals they are pursuing are personally important” (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 384). By evaluating and comparing my characteristics with my admired leader, Janet Mock, “People working for charismatic leaders are motivated to exert extra effort and, because they like and respect their leader, express greater satisfaction” (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 381). Developing those additional leadership skills and advancing the characteristics I currently possess, will allow me the opportunity to expand my horizon. Conclusion Understanding and evaluating leadership styles and theories can allow an individual to assess his or her capabilities.
In conclusion, a multicultural classroom requires various teaching methods for students’ success. In order to successfully teach a class like such, teaching materials must be modified to involve and recognize each student’s culture. When a teacher shows interest in student’s heritage and culture, they are able to gain their students trust. This encourages and motivates students to learn in a diverse

A college degree in Elementary Education is essential to me because I want to teach others the value of fun, learning, and the capability to be involved in exciting adventures throughout life. My personal goal is to obtain my bachelors degree in education. GCU is working as a team to help guide me through the higher education process. The team consists of a support system that can direct me academically and emotionally. The academic counselors are on hand to help answer questions, providing constructive criticism as well as positive comments and rewards.
When people are expose to different ways of life, and view how other cultures live, it is a benefit to learn and explore new ways of life. With all the differences, it can be meaningful in all people lives. It is important is learn and benefit from all cultures and diversity’s, because the more people know the more they understand and share the knowledge of diversity in society. This way it can promote the acceptance in all cultures and adapt everyone for who they are. People are different, and the difference can strengthen society in many ways, because the diversity provides opportunities to learn and grow from one another.
