There are numerous contributing factors that make this even harder on the population of Mohave County to survive. The need is evident with the growing rate of people only surviving because of benefits like food stamps and unemployment checks that things need to change. This is even more of an issue right now with the government shutting down and putting a stop to programs like WIC and possibly food stamps. The need is for there to be more available positions. The reasons this occurs is due to numerous factors like the number of companies going out of business, lack of job growth, future plans for job growth does not meet the need, founding father’s not allowing large business to come to town, education level of community, sales tax is high, and average household income is low.
The minimum wage that welfare reform was expecting people to live off of was in fact not enough to even support the buying of food. In Working poor, working hard Katherine Newman expounds on the fact that welfare benefits are cut off at low levels and unavailable to those that earn minimum wage and work a forty-hour week. Newman also states that only a “combination of the two income streams [welfare and a job] make it possible to manage…life.” (Newman) These two sources only emphasize the already established fact that welfare reform must be reformed
Food shortages were a key problem in Russia as it meant the people were starving and desperate. It has consistently been a problem to the rulers of Russia such as the Provisional government. The people wanted change but they also wanted grain to feed themselves and their family. It was important that the food crisis would be solved by the Bolsheviks in order to gain the support of the people; however, due to Russia’s poor transport and little fertile land, it was simply an impossible job for any party or rulers of Russia especially due to the high demand of the huge populace. The demand for food has always been high in Russia which meant that no matter what reforms or radical changes a party can bring in, if they can’t feed the people there will always be bitterness which can and did result in opposition to Lenin and his Bolsheviks.
Also the iron and textile industries benefited greatly with the revolution. Before the revolution, I had mentioned that manufacturing was done in private homes, the revolution expanded factories and then instead of making products at home which took several months, factories could produce a mass production. The Revolution also boosted the transportation, communication and banking systems. How did the Industrial revolution transform families? The industrial revolution improved the standard of living for some people; however it also made employment and living conditions for the poor and working classes very tough.
The industrial revolution has helped the nation and economy grown so much over the time but we know, nothing is perfect. With large factories come environmental hazards and with large buildings come migration issues for all animals. Over the years, we have learned that maybe we took too much too fast. The importance of the industrial revolution is endless. But looking back on it today, the world seems to be at a much quicker less wasteful speed.
Evaluate the success or otherwise of urban regeneration schemes in combating the causes and consequences of urban decline (40 marks) Urban decline is caused by many factors including the development of the suburbs, leading to migration of the upper and middle class workers but is mostly effected by de-industrialisation, resulting in big corporations leaving the region, taking skilled workers and trade with them and causing large scale unemployment. This can cause an even bigger spiral of decline as low income levels mean people can’t afford high quality housing, education or health and then investment into the area starts to leave which leaves the infrastructure to crumble and social standards start to slip. Therefore, to help encourage development in these areas, the government and the people often create schemes to help regenerate the area. One cause of urban decline is the emigration of workers out of an area usually into the suburbs in a search for a nicer environment and better quality of living. This can often lead to the abandonment of buildings which soon become overgrown and derelict.
These early ideas made it possible for the different views of the rich and working class to have their own set representation as needed when capitalism, or free market enterprise, and common wealth made its way into American economy. Free market enterprise was a way for the artisans, or skilled workers, to make money by producing and selling their products. As technology advanced and more inventions were being created there also came better, cheaper, and faster ways of producing mass amounts of the same products. Factories and new means of transportation made it possible for industrialization to make a rise and excel American economy. While business was great for the owners of these companies and those who could afford better living it was a completely different story for the factory workers and artisans.
However, the degree that industrialization affected people varied in rather contrasting ways, with the destitute becoming poorer and the wealthy becoming even more affected, creating two different spheres within society that were difficult to converge despite the various efforts attempted. While industrialization led to a growth in population of major cities, the social aspects of society resulted in degradation amongst the laborers, which constituted a majority of the population. Dramatic growth meant that living spaces were scarce, with several people living in one room of the various tenements. Those that could not afford to pay rent slept outside on the streets (Document F). The high population density created squalid living conditions that were ideal places for diseases that resulted in illnesses and death.
This makes it harder to produce foods and to make money which is the two big reasons for the poverty in Chad. Another reason for poverty is that some of the homes are run by women who cause them to do more jobs around the house and not to make money. Poverty is a big problem that Chad is suffering right now and hopefully gets
With the promise of learning a trade and becoming more wealthy a new class of people was appearing in the cities, the middle class. With the change in the economics of the cities, more and more people moved into the cities to begin jobs in the factories, which was also made easier by the new railroads. People flocked to the more urban areas in order to find easier jobs and to make more money than they had been by farming. The better easier life seemed to be withine the grasps of those who wanted to make a living and raise their families with the raise of the industrial
