Th-102 Play Critique The Foreigner WHO - Playwright. Larry Shue; Director. James Seymour; Actors. Froggy LeSeur - Mel Etumai, Charlie Baker - Robert Wang, Batty Meeks - Lila Gombar, David Marshall Lee - Julius Santos, Catherine Simms - Katie King, Owen Musser - Benjamin Hardy, Ellard Simms - Marc Marcos, Townspeople - John Nick Mastin, April Bagwell, Salvador Avilla, Bert Villera. WHAT - The Foreigner. WHERE - UOG’s Island Theatre. WHEN - March 25, 2011. WHY - The basic theme of the play is about a man who is looking for a good life. This play is a comedy. PLOT - this play about one foreigner who is very insecure about himself. His name is Charlie Baker. He is the main character in the play. He is residing in a small resort. In the time he was living in the house, he met some friendly and unfriendly friends. He first met Froggy. Froggy is in the army he had to leave Charlie alone in the resort for 3 weeks. In the resort, Charlie met Betty Meeks, Catherine Simms, Ellard Simms, and Owen Musser. Betty Meeks is the owner of the resort. She an elderly in this play. The house is being bought by the Simms couple. Ellard Simms is the bad person in this movie. He is greedy and only wants the money of Catherine Simms. Ellard plans to give the money as donation for his group called the KKK. Owen is the brother of the Catherine Simms. In the end the good guys still beats the bad guys. PERFORMANCE - I love how everyone in the play has an accent. Charlie’s, Robert Wang, accent was very believable. Froggy’s, Mel Etumai, accent was nice but his accent gave me a hard time understanding him. The other actor’s voices were very audible. Charlie’s essential action is to show everyone he is a foreigner. Ellard’s essential action is to betray his wife by taking her money. SET - I love how the stage look.
