First of all, is obviously easier to search for results on a web search tool, like Google, than having to choose a book about the subject you are dealing with, and then look up on its appendix, to see if it contains the piece of information you need. Secondly, the amount and variety of information you can get through the suggested web sites is bigger, because they are not only from books, they can also be from magazines and even essays and projects of college, that students share on internet. Finally, you don’t have to travel to the library, and as if it weren’t enough, you don’t need to write down the information while reading, because of the function “copy” and “paste”. It seems like this wonder couldn’t have any flaw, but in fact it does. Web sites are sometimes not as reliable as books.
Some of the common use of World Wide Web is to gain knowledge in research. When students are doing their home works, instead of going to the library and spending a little more time, they just need to go in front of the computer and search for the topic that they are researching on. Using the internet as a learning resource is somehow more efficient than books when it comes to time. But when it comes to reliability, books are still the best options for us to research since anybody can write, edit, and publish an article on the Web. Internet helped us to communicate with the ones we loved especially those who are far from us.
Nicholas Carr is the author of the article “Is Goggle making us stupid? Google proponents say that it’s not, they say that we don’t have to use our memory as much as before. Thanks to Google we have more time now to daydream or brainstorm. Or that we can see Google as an huge external hard disk for our brain. Carr thinks that this is bullshit.
With 1TB of storage you are gonna have no problem saving all of your work which is a lot due to always having numerous people you are working with at one time. When a recruiter is working on all the different internet sites to complete enlistment documents the notebook is going to need to be quick which is why I feel 3.4GHZ would be more than adequate to complete there tasks. So in conclusion look into a Macbook with 1TB and 3.4 GHZ for any jobs that you are very mobile in and need a lot of storage and speed. This is not going to be cheap as you will spend $1500-2000 on these machines but it will all be worth it. Moving on
Cody Janowski 12/2/10 English Comp Assignment 4 The Internet has undoubtedly changed the way people live their lives. Any information we could possibly want- and more- is at our disposal, and has made life for us incredibly convenient and easy; some, however, might say too easy. One of these people is Nicholas Carr, author of the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” featured in the July/August 2008 edition of The Atlantic. Carr argues that the Net seems to be slowly demolishing our abilities to concentrate on one subject, as well as contemplate information, based on the ease of access to everything the Internet provides today. I agree with Carr to an extent; however I would say that his theory most certainly does not apply to everyone.
The next step is having a reliable internet access. It is, after all, impossible to take an online course without being online. These are just the basic requirements to even think about online schooling. Moving beyond the requirements, there are many perks of turning to online education; one being that it is the most convenient way of schooling. This option of education is widely accessible by a plethora of students, thus being convenient.
Short critical reflection Mary Gundersen INF 103 April 30, 2012 Erika McCulloch Short critical reflection Short critical reflection is as searching information with Google is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, and do I think it is true, that the library in the 19th century more efficient. Yes, I do think it is more efficient in the 19th century because back then they did not have the internet as we do today. If he or she has ever research in a library they would know that is very more efficient to look up information but, into today world we have the internet and it is deficiently a huge task not easy on search engines that he or she can choose from but not only Google is by far the most Famous. Nevertheless, each one is just a search engine and not a library. When individual logs onto the internet he or she may found a sense of information over kill since there is no filters in place to organize from the truth or the fiction of items that he or she reads, and Searching in a specific database, such as Ashford’s Library is different from searching in Bing, Google, and Yahoo.
Even though the internet is not a brand new thing, this question was never brought up because of how slow it used to be and because of how many people had access to it compared to now. In this day and age the amount of people who use the internet heavily for a cornucopia of things is amazing. It has now become such an integral part of society that it seems it may be changing how our brains our working. When we do anything enough times it will start to affect our brain. If we lie all the time we will start to have a brain that is tailor made to make lying easier (Neulieb).
A wide variety of entertainment has become accessible features with the click of a button. It provides kids and people with a wide source of education whether it is educational websites or whole courses on the internet. The internet has made being able to educate people a lot easier. It can also be used to find jobs or even do online jobs! These are some of the many reasons of why the internet shouldn’t be banned.
For instance, through the online chat forums, I can grasp the innumerous different opinions and perspectives from people regarding topics from education to the latest movies. By learning from what other people are thinking, it helps me become more open-minded. Technology affects every aspect of our lives, as communication and information travels faster and faster, the world seems smaller and smaller. Living in such a globalised world, this has large implications on how we view the world around us. The internet connects people closer to each other, thus, the barriers of distance between people narrows or in some cases, even disappears.
