"Truly there is an urgent need today of reforming the methods of instruction and education and he who aims at such a renewal is struggling for the regeneration of mankind " - Dr Maria Montessori Maria Montessori felt that in spite of technological advancements and economic progress the modern world was facing numerous problems like cruelty, poverty & conflicts. There was no peace and harmony Although Education is considered to be the means of bringing about the transformation in the world and construction of harmonious and peaceful society, it cannot find a solution to many problems faced by humanity. Focus of the prevailing system is wrong. It is only an education of the mind and transmission of knowledge which is not sufficient for the holistic development of an individual. For the betterment of man's future we must take into account a psychic entity, a social personality, a new world force which is the child also known as Spiritual embryo. Spiritual Embryo is the phase of intellectual development or a period of mental construction of the child that starts developing right after birth and continues developing to three. It is the non-physical growth of the child’s mind, intellect, personality, temperament, spirit and soul (from birth to three years), which Dr. Montessori thought of as being comparable to the physical growth of the embryo in the womb before birth. The work of man on the earth is related to his spirit, to his creative intelligence so his spirit and his intelligence must be the centre of his existence and of all the workings of his body. The whole man develops within a kind of spiritual halo, so the care should be given to his mental life and not just the bodily life.
