Planning and Measuring Performance for Costco Corporation Roger Scmidt MGT/521 February 25, 2012 Roberto Guzman Planning and Measuring Performance for Costco Corporation My week 3 Organizational Plan Assignment was the Costco Wholesale Corporation. I identified its current goals as 1) control costs by reduction of inventory and careful selection of high quality goods and services and careful expansion of its’ domestic market. To elaborate, Costco has been very successful at keeping costs down by minimizing waste and storage expenses with a rapid turnover of its’ inventory. This is at least in part due t0 its’ ability to sell high-demand goods and services for very low prices. Additionally, Costco has a goal of 3) maintaining its employee workforce, as high employee job satisfaction has translated into exceptional customer service and low employee turnover (Costco, 2012).
End Vision First, I think that implementing a good management plan by the upper level management is very important for KFF’s to succeed as a company. Having a replacement inventory coordinator who purchases the best possible products for all three stores, Also, having a person who controls the accounts payable, receivables, and finances that coordinate all vendors get paid on time will allow Kathy Kudler to focus more on duties that need more attention. For instance, implement a better website for the business will give better benefits to customer, therefore, sells will increase. The company needs to understand the difference between having a website and having an effective website. The website that is in place in KFF only displays the goods and services.
5/2/13 BSA/310 Frequent Shopper Program Kudler Fine Foods created a frequent shopper program which gives customers incentives to continue shopping there. Their rewards are determined by how much is spent on groceries and how frequent purchases are made. “Frequent Shopper Program proves the ability to gather data for marketing programs and run promotions for the loyal customers.” (Frequent Shopper). Web based advertising would allow for major cost reduction and provide helpful and effective consumer awareness about said products. In order for Kudler Fine Foods to develop a functioning frequent shopper program, it must track and monitor consumers shopping behavior.
1st Week: 1. Marketing: Managing Profitable Customer Relationships 1.1. What is Marketing? The basic goals of marketing are attracting new customers by promising superior value and keeping and growing current customers by satisfying them. For example, Wal-Mart’s promise is “Always low prices”, Disney theme parks promise to “make dreams come true”.
MGMT 4020 June 24, 2013 Homework Assignment #2 Competition is very high in the North American wholesale club industry. Every wholesale club wants to sell top-quality products at prices less than others in order to attract draw customers. And they all want to display low prices on pallets or inexpensive shelving, therefore, they have very low costs for store decor and fixtures, have comparatively low labor costs, and spent minimally on advertising and customer service. Five Forces Analysis 1. Bargaining Power of Buyers is moderate.
Advertising is a large part of Target’s marketing management. The retail stores sell a large variety of high quality items at lower prices than the competitors, therefore, selling more products. Target’s marketing team is constantly re-evaluating the products sold to assure that their customers stay satisfied with the items that are in stock. To guarantee that customers stay completely satisfied, Target will special order items if requested by a customer. To continue to be the largest retail store, Target has to make sure that their prices are the lowest and that the products they sell meet all of the wants and needs of each customer.
Outsourcing brings proven benefits in the form of economic leveraging, increase in the quality of products and it provides a number of opportunities to less developed countries. For example in recent times, Americans are overwhelmingly supporting the major retail stores like Wal-Mart, Target and K-Mart. The reason behind this consumer loyalty is that it has become much easier to shop at these locations rather than the local mom and pop stores located on the corner of most neighborhoods. The benefit is that you can purchase everything on your shopping list from one location, saving you time, money and gasoline. In a highly competitive business world, on a firm’s priority list is the subject of increasing profit and reducing cost.
