Ventilation in the slums is inadequate owing to the hopelessly unplanned nature of these areas.” (Doc. 5) Many poor city dwellers were forced to live in dark, filthy, overcrowded slums. There were many problems such as overuse of natural resources and pollution to not only the air but also the water. As of air, air, smoke had blackened the air. And water was being contaminated.
Many immigrants had to deal with poor living and working conditions (OK). Immigrants were paid low wages, so they had to live in tenements (Document 1). Tenements were crowded, unsanitary, and unsafe apartments that were very small (OK). Diseases spread quickly due to the overcrowding (OK). They were unsafe because there were no regulations on how they were built.
For one family it was already crowded. What they did later on when the population increased, they started putting two families in the single-family house. This lead to the whole city being overcrowded which lead to unsanitary living. The landlords never did the job right. The landlord didn’t give the immigrants a place to put their garbage so they just put it in the hallway, or just throw it out on the street.
Internal barriers are the culture of the hospital itself by supporting and atmosphere where short cuts and work around in order to complete tasks more quickly. The lack of accountability solidifies this internal barrier even more because regardless of what level of care that has been interviewed. I have witnessed in these interviews the phrase “that’s not my job” which is a clear disregard for the Nightingale Community Hospital’s
As I was walking out he was talking trash and being very impolite. The address which this occurred is at 2810 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92104. I felt much disrespected at your establishment and I think this complaint should not go unnoticed. I’m not sure if every Little Caesars restaurant has rude employees but every time I’ve been I encountered one. I am not the only person who gets disrespected at your establishment.
Looking at the film, the first thing that I was able to depict is how run down the neighborhood and the city in general is. Although looking at the people on the streets and seeing how run down the buildings are in the city represented bad time or sadness, the color the producer used in the film set the mood outside in the streets and inside in the barbershop. Throughout the film, it is easy to notice that outside in the streets the sun would never shine. A grayscale look dropped down onto the city to create a dreary and lifeless environment. Taking a step inside the barbershop entered the viewer into a brand new world.
According to the author, Arabs think of public spaces as a place where no one has the right to prevent others from getting too close. Basically the concept of a virtual sphere that surrounds a person, the assumption that is commonly held by westerns, is simply nonexistent among Arabs. The author assumes that because of the constant pressure from the ever-expanding desert forced the Arabs to cope with living in highly condensed urban cities, and, thus, develop such a behavior. The misunderstanding results when both sides think that the other side is rude. Hall finds this
A woman came to greet us and-although it seemed incredibly crowded as it was-showed us where we were to stay. As time passed by I learned that the air quality was very un-healthy, it has an extremely foul smell from all the waste people throw in the streets. The apartment was freezing in the winter and scorching hot in the summer. In the winter, it is impossible to keep warm but in the summer we resort to sleeping outside. I also found that it was impossible to get water in the winter because it was frozen and we had no
The floor was a hazard; I had to step on the cross-batons of the ceiling below as the crumbling asbestos insulation was unstable and made it almost impossible to breath. I walked across and through the door with the hole next to it, and as my beam of light danced around the room it began to show an image of pure neglect and abandonment. The floor was boarded in the room, making it relatively safe to walk. In the corner there was an object like a double-bed, sheeted; and all the bed spread that was once white and clean was now a yellowy cream with dark patches and rotting frays at the edges. There was a tiny window that had been smashed and ivy had begun to clamber through it and spread out to the eves above, and a bedside table had a broken leg with fungus spewing out of its splinters.
Furthermore, safety of workplace is not well-considered. Child labor is forced to work under non-air-conditioner room. Besides, for building construction sites, it is the worst working environment. For instant, most of them do not have shelter and thus workers work under hot condition. Moreover, it is dangerous.
